IPU Firmware Integrator and Developer
Job Description
Firmware Integrator and Developer for IPU (Smart-NIC)
About the Role: The Infrastructure Processing Unit (IPU), also known as Smart-NIC, is a PCIe-powered network interface card that significantly enhances traditional NIC capabilities by offloading tasks such as packet processing, traffic shaping, virtual switching, and more from the HOST CPU (Xeon). IPUs are the future of cloud processing and storage and are already being deployed in the data centers of the largest and most well-known cloud service providers.
As an IPU Firmware Integrator and Developer, you will be responsible for bringing up the firmware operational code over the emulations. You will collaborate with architects, hardware designers, firmware developers, and silicon validation teams to ensure the model is operational with firmware, enabling the silicon validation team to run their tests over the emulation model. Additionally, you will code microcode features for Xtensa and ARM microprocessors, working in a dynamic and innovative team environment.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with Architecture, Logic Design, and Validation teams.
- Analyze existing code, gather new requirements, develop new algorithms or necessary changes as needed, write the code, and debug on both pre-silicon and silicon platforms.
- Develop and integrate firmware for IPU systems, ensuring high performance and reliability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex firmware issues in a timely manner.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
- 7+ years of hands-on experience in C development and troubleshooting on embedded platforms.
- Experience with Linux Kernel and Device Driver development on Linux.
- Experience with board bring-up and systems debugging.
- Experience with emulation environments.
- Proficiency with JTAG/debug tools.
- Experience with source control, particularly with Git.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with a keen sense of customer service.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of system architecture.
- Experience with Agile (SCRUM) practices.
- Experience with Python and/or Bash.
- Experience with ARM and Xtensa processors and microcontrollers.
- Familiarity with networking concepts, PCIe, and ARM-based environments.
- Familiarity with Verilog code (optional).
