The Data Center AI Solutions (DAIS) group is a critical part of Intel's AI investments as it builds AI products and capabilities in our client, network, data center, software, and foundry offerings. DAIS's "AI" responsibility spans data center workloads from generative AI and deep learning to analytics, HPC, and graphics - all of which are super important in the future of computing. These products help end-customers gain insight into and discover solutions to their most important problems.

As an HPC Performance Architect, you will be part of a system applications engineering team working on leading-edge HPC technologies.

In this role, you will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

  • Research and development of techniques for hardware acceleration and software optimization of HPC applications.
  • Use simulation and measurement techniques to identify performance bottlenecks in software, processors and system interconnect.
  • Port applications to accelerators like Intel GPUs using oneAPI.
  • Extensive system characterizations, performance analysis, and debugging of applications at scale.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enable applications and thereby contribute to Intel's software products.
  • Occasionally work with our US government research partners to define technology directions and application readiness of the prototyped technology.

Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications:

You must possess the minimum requirements noted below and minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Additional preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

  • Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field and 3+ years of relevant industry experience or PhD in Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field or related field and relevant industry experience.
  • 3+ years of programming experience in high level languages such as C/C++/Fortran.
  • 3+ years of experience developing or using performance simulators.
  • 3+ years of experience in parallel programming using OpenMP and MPI or similar parallel programming APIs .

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in HPC, LLMs (GPT, BLOOM176, LLAMA) for performance optimizations.
  • 3+ years of experience programming for GPUs.
  • 3+ years of programming experience in scripting languages such as Perl, Python or bash.
  • 3+ years of experience using of performance profiling tools such as VTune and MPI profilers.

Annual Salary Range for jobs which could be performed in US, California: $123,419.00-$185,123.00
*Salary range dependent on a number of factors including location and experience


Working Model


This role will be eligible for our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site. In certain circumstances the work model may change to accommodate business needs.
