In Q4 2023, Intel announced PSG will be reported as a separate business unit beginning on January 1, 2024, with ongoing support from Intel. This position is associated to that standalone business strategy and is expected to fully transition to a standalone company at some time in the future.  

Programmable Solutions Group (PSG) empowers customers to unlock the full potential of data through cutting-edge programmable platforms. Intel Corporation announced its intent to separate its Programmable Solutions Group operations into a standalone business. This will give PSG the autonomy and flexibility it needs to fully accelerate its growth and more effectively compete in the FPGA industry, which serves a broad array of markets, including the data center, communications, industrial, automotive, aerospace and defense sectors.

Position Summary:

As a global Category Manager, you will be responsible for the strategic sourcing and development of all technology purchases across Altera. Your strong influencing and negotiation skills will support quality and cost saving objectives. The position is responsible for leveraging spend across the business, creating and executing strategic cost savings projects and driving out cost. The position is responsible for maintaining and managing the company indirect buying process, ensuring associates are complying with the preferred Suppliers, while also leading the end-to-end contract management process and supporting aggressive working capital goals. 

You will be responsible for developing & executing category strategies for IT & TELECOM which result in overall cost reduction of the category spend and service/quality improvements. 

In this role, you will be responsible for the following

  • Develops and executes category strategies, as well as drives supplier development through innovation and collaboration.   

  • Achieve year-over-year reductions in total costs of goods and services, while maintaining or improving supplier quality and service levels. 

  • Maintains advanced knowledge of industry and market dynamics, and knowledge of commodities to drive supply chain solutions ahead of Intel's needs.   

  • Leverages and applies strong understanding of contracting and negotiating, risk mitigation, and supplier relationship management to manage supplier relationships and provide sustainable cost, quality, availability, and technology solutions with adherence to procurement policies.   

  • Ensures that the respective category meets the business demand and cost requirements necessary for Intel to develop great products/services for its customers.   

  • Works closely with partner teams and suppliers to define standard and custom product requirements, influence design decisions to meet desired product/service demand and fulfil the business objective.   

  • Conducts periodic executive reviews of category sourcing strategy in partnership with internal teams/customers to shape strategic business objectives and account investments through aligned roadmaps.   

  • Collaborates with internal & external stakeholders to drive supply chain optimization, understand affordability, set cost targets and define cost reduction roadmaps through detailed understanding of supplier's financial targets, business objectives, and margins. 

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, rates, proportions, percentages.  Ability to analyze and interpret data.   

  • Ability to utilize commercial software tools for analysis and project management. 

  • Negotiate tactics and strategies that result in cost savings and risk avoidance.


Qualifications


This position is not eligible for Intel immigration sponsorship.

Minimum Education Requirement

Education – bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain or related field

Minimum Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in indirect procurement (managing IT category) 

  • Category strategy, supplier relationship management, multi-year negotiation strategies, continuous improvement programs and lean initiatives 

  • Experience in sourcing, development and sustainment of ERP system(s), other IT tools 

  • Contracting trends, licensing models, and traditional and emerging contract and Supplier performance models

  • Experience in IT and Telecom marketplace (IT HW & SW, Data Center Infrastructure, Cloud Services, IT Consulting and Outsourcing) 

  • Experience in structuring contracts and managing business relationships

Annual Salary Range for jobs which could be performed in US, California: $115,846.00-$174,048.00
*Salary range dependent on a number of factors including location and experience


Working Model


This role will be eligible for our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site. In certain circumstances the work model may change to accommodate business needs.
