In Q4 2023, Intel announced Altera will be reported as a separate business unit beginning on January 1, 2024, with ongoing support from Intel. This position is associated to that standalone business strategy and is expected to fully transition to a standalone company at some time in the future.

Altera seeks a Planner / Product Manager for the Intellectual Property (IP) component of our Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) solutions. Altera’s IP solutions portfolio includes a comprehensive breadth of hard (silicon) and soft (configurable FPGA logic) IP targeting compute, networking/communications, memory, and video interfaces for a variety of end markets and segments such as cloud and enterprise, wireless and wireline networks, edge and embedded applications. Your focus will be on hard and soft IP solutions for one or more of the following areas:

  • Network and communications interfaces such as Ethernet, Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN), Interlaken

  • Application security including symmetric cryptographic engines, Media Access Control Security (MACsec) and network security protocols

  • Wireless protocols such as Common Public Radio Interface (CPRI), enhanced CPRI (eCPRI), Open Radio Access Network (ORAN)

  • Compute-attach protocols PCI Express (PCIe) and Compute Express Link (CXL)

In this role you will analyze and synthesize requirements from various sources including Altera’s product roadmap, strategy and marketing teams, Altera business divisions and Intel business units, customers, and sales/field/support teams. You will take on challenging and often ambiguous problems, applying sound business judgment in defining solutions and effectively communicating complex issues. You'll work closely with engineering teams to ensure that all requirements and feature specifications are well defined and prioritized, to drive the engineering delivery process and timeline for hard and soft IP.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Drive the definition, trade-off analysis, and convergence of next-generation IP solutions that enable various FPGA end markets and applications.

  • Coordinate with business stakeholders to continuously drive customer requirements into the product definition and solutions roadmap.

  • Generate detailed product requirements.

  • Maintain and communicate a detailed IP product roadmap.

  • Identify risks, mitigations, and contingencies associated with the roadmap and develop a cohesive competitive positioning strategy.

  • Coordinate with peers to align inter-dependent programs and solutions.

  • Manage and track input to Engineering direction/deliverables and change requests.

Qualifications


Minimum Education Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other related field of study

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in FPGA applications and IP, or related end application domains.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical depth and understanding of FPGA or ASIC based IP targeting markets including cloud and enterprise, wireless and wireline networks, edge and embedded applications.

  • Technical depth and understanding of FPGA development flows and solutions.

  • Direct experience in architecting FPGA-based solutions for an end market/application.

  • Industry experience of dynamics, trends, success factors, and competitive forces in FPGA end markets/applications.

  • Experience in a customer-facing and engagement role.

Annual Salary Range for jobs which could be performed in US, California: $123,139.00-$203,801.00
*Salary range dependent on a number of factors including location and experience
