Job Description


The team creates essential software that helps Intel's Edge devices start up smoothly. They offer standard boot software like UEFI Boot Firmware and an open-source Slim Bootloader for Intel's Edge devices. Additionally, they make sure this software can work with special features that Intel wants for their Edge devices.

BFE, a vital part of the NEX SW Platform Ingredient Division (PID) team, plays a crucial role in creating firmware for cutting-edge platform features. These features span various market segments, including Edge computing, Industrial applications, FPGA, and AI systems. As part of this role, you will be responsible for designing and implementing new features for boot firmware/bootloader software. Your work will involve influencing the design of both hardware and software architecture, creating tests for both individual components and the overall system, and collaborating closely with other divisions to jointly develop Boot Firmware /Bootloader software for Intel's Edge Processing Unit (EPU). Additionally, you will oversee creating Firmware specifications, crafting reference code for chipsets, and developing and maintaining platform Firmware. Your role will require close collaboration with Intel's silicon design teams, and you will be responsible for addressing all software and Firmware-related issues throughout the planning, development, and validation phases of the program.


Qualifications


We are seeking a fresh graduate with a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electronic Engineering who possesses the following qualifications:

-Proficiency in microcontroller programming, including familiarity with platforms such as Arduino, Micropython, and Python programming for Raspberry Pi.

-Demonstrated skills in low-level software troubleshooting and debugging.

-Genuine passion for software programming, showcasing a commitment beyond mere knowledge.

-The right mindset and behavior, including self-learning, teamwork, independence, knowledge sharing, and self-motivation.

-A strong sense of responsibility in fulfilling tasks.

-Methodical problem-solving abilities, particularly in debugging tasks.

-Proficiency in the C programming language or related digital badges is a bonus.

-Familiarity with hardware schematic design is beneficial.

-Prior experience in open-source software development is valuable.

-Knowledge of secure coding practices or related digital badges is a plus.

-Understanding of Generative AI is a positive asset.Earning programming skill assessment badges on LinkedIn is an added advantage.

Working Model


This role will be eligible for our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site. In certain circumstances the work model may change to accommodate business needs.
