Functional safety of emerging applications including active safety products, based on embedded systems, has become a first priority in many different markets: in industrial with robotics and drones, in automotive with autonomous cars. This is the basis for innovative solutions to increase machines/cars and users situational awareness and actively control failures avoidance and mitigation, redefining the future of industrial and transportation and saving lives. The industry standards require companies to have in place Functional Safety Management.

Responsibilities and Duties

The Functional Safety Manager is responsible for the planning and coordination of the functional safety activities during the product development phases, i.e. the product development at the system, hardware or software level, in which the organization is involved and according to the defined functional safety lifecycle.
In particular, FSM is responsible for
- maintaining the safety plan ruling the activities to be done in the development, and for monitoring the progress of the safety activities against the safety plan.
- Performing and contributing to process safety audits in order to identified gaps of the processes with respect to the requirements of the applicable functional safety standard
- elaborating and maintaining the safety case, plan the Functional Safety activities during production and, when applicable, support the certification activities interfacing the certification body.
Moreover the Functional Safety Manager contributes to the definition of the standardize practices, methodology and templates necessary for Functional Safety and works with development teams to embed methods and collaterals/artefacts generation necessary for the Functional Safety as part of the IP/SOC development lifecycles

Qualifications


Master degree in Electronic or Computer Engineering or equivalent.
More than 10 years of experience or equivalent in microelectronic field, preferred SoC and system design, verification/validation and Functional Safety applications.
Deep knowledge of Functional Safety and related standards, in particular IEC 61508 and ISO 26262.
Consolidated experience with requirement management tools like IBM DOORS Next Generation.
Experience in Automotive and/or industrial Safety Related Application.
Ability to communicate complex ideas succinctly and persuasively to peers, management and customers; outstanding planning and organization/control skills and leadership attitude.

Working Model


This role is available as a fully home-based and generally would require you to attend Intel sites only occasionally based on business need. This role may also be available as our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site. In certain circumstances the work model may change to accommodate business needs.
