Job Description


  • Initiates the design, development, execution, and implementation of scientific research projects to fuel growth in computing, communication, memory, networking, intellectual property, and new business opportunities.

  • Applies scientific research principles and concepts to potential inventions and products in novel systems architectures, developing the vision and value proposition, aligning strategy, and driving fastpaced research and development to meet timelines.

  • Supports integration of hardware and software systems to enable virtualized, scalable, secure distributed systems, and/or computing platforms for one or more of Intel's market segments such as client, cloud, enterprise, or edge.

  • Utilizes advanced knowledge of compute, memory, IO, and/or network subsystems and hardware/software codesign principles to drive requirements and specifications for both hardware and software at the IP, SoC, platform, and system levels.

  • Conducts simulation, prototyping, and workload analysis to achieve performance/watt/dollar optimized system implementations.

  • Studies, analyzes, optimizes, and documents the interoperability between operating systems and physical or virtualized CPU, GPU, and/or xPU architectures.

  • Drives co-optimization of hardware and software architectures to achieve high throughput, energy efficiency, scaleout capability, security, and extensibility.

  • Drives triage of problems at the system level to determine root cause.

  • Conducts handson performance studies including power and thermal to define SoC and platform architecture.

  • Researches technological trends, enables partnership and collaboration among industry, academia, standards bodies, product, and other technical groups to address important technology and customer issues, and finds innovative solutions to difficult problems for midterm or longterm time frames.

  • Influences external research, disseminates results, and raises the profile of conducted research through scientific publications, patents, talks, and Intel internal or external outreach efforts.

  • Performs research to define boundaries and create proofofconcepts or prototype new ideas including chips and competitive analysis versus industry trends.

  • Works with engineering design teams to determine product requirements and the feasibility of new technology adoption and integration.

  • Recommends features and influences future Intel product roadmap.


Qualifications


  • Ph.D. program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or any related field

  • Experience developing radar transceivers, Wi-Fi systems, MIMO communications, communications waveforms

  • Research background in Joint Communication and sensing (JCAS) networks

  • Experience with building simulators and PoC development for demos and evaluating the performance of wireless networks

  • Proper handling of research data including but not limited to documentation, software code, and software tools according to data management policies of the project

  • Excellent documentation, verbal communication and organizational skills

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with consortiums and research organizations

  • Problem solving skills in a dynamic and fast-paced environment


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with 5G-PPP projects (e.g., 5G-VICTORI, 5G-COMPLETE, 5G-CLARITY) and Smart Networks and Services Joint Understanding (SNS JU) projects (e.g., BGREENm, TERRAMETA, CENTRIC)

  • Experience with machine learning/deep learning algorithms applied to wireless communications and/or sensing usages

  • Experience in python, AI/ML tools, C/C++, Matlab is highly desirable

Working Model


This role is available as a fully home-based and generally would require you to attend Intel sites only occasionally based on business need. This role may also be available as our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site. In certain circumstances the work model may change to accommodate business needs.
