As a Security Research Engineer/Scientist you responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Initiates the secure design, development, execution, and implementation of scientific research projects to fuel growth in secure computing, communication, memory, networking, intellectual property, and new business opportunities.

  • Applies scientific research principles and concepts to potential inventions and products to define and architect secure design, development, and operation of Intel's hardware and software products and services. Leads complex, multidisciplinary security research projects with expertise in exploring vulnerabilities and implements complex multistage exploits on hardware platforms and architectures. Serves as subject matter expert in vulnerability discovery, analysis, and exploitation.

  • Studies emerging threat landscape in hacker community to prioritize offensive security research focus. Focuses on robust counter measures and provides mitigation guidance and strategies.

  • Explores and invents hardware techniques as a method of attack against targets, commanding deep pervasive pulse on business and technologies. Scouts the threat landscape of lowlevel microcode, pursuing opportunities when discovered to build our hacking capability.

  • Builds new adversary tools, techniques, or methodologies for automation research and lower level systems, accommodating partner teams with reasonable expectations and timeframes.

  • Maintains substantial knowledge of stateoftheart security principles, theories, and emerging threat landscapes and contributes to literatures and conferences.

  • Exhibits passion for security research and community impact demonstrated by published research and collaboration to community efforts.

  • Research technological trends, enables partnerships and collaboration among industry, academia, standards bodies, product, and other technical groups to address important technology and customer issues, and finds innovative solutions to difficult problems for midterm or long term time frames.

  • Influences external research, disseminates results, and raises the profile of conducted research through scientific publications, patents, talks, and Intel internal or external outreach efforts.

  • Performs research to define boundaries and create proof of concepts or prototype new ideas including test chips and competitive analysis versus industry trends.

  • Works with engineering design teams to determine product requirements and the feasibility of new technology adoption and robustness of secure product design. Recommends features and influences future Intel product roadmap.


Qualifications


Minimum qualifications are required to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Minimum Qualifications:
You must possess a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, computer science or electrical/electronic engineering or any STEM related Degree with over 4+ years of industry experience OR

Master’s degree in computer engineering, computer science or electrical/electronic engineering or in any STEM related degree with over 3+ years of industry experience
3+ Years of experience in either microprocessor security or CPU pre-silicon validation.

3+ years’ experience hardware modeling languages, such as Verilog, VHDL, or System Verilog and industry standard logic simulation tools.

3+ years of experience validation and debug experience such as test writing/generation, checker development, coverage analysis, failure debug, root cause analysis.

3+ years' experience in at least one language: C/C++, Perl, Python, etc.

Preferred Qualifications:
5+ Years of experience in either microprocessor security or CPU pre-silicon validation.
5+ years’ experience hardware modeling languages, such as Verilog, VHDL, or System Verilog and industry standard logic simulation tools.

5+ years of experience validation and debug experience such as test writing/generation, checker development, coverage analysis, failure debug, root cause analysis.

5+ years' experience in at least one language: C/C++, Perl, Python, etc.

Working Model


This role will be eligible for our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site. In certain circumstances the work model may change to accommodate business needs.
