EDA Tools Hardware Engineer
Job Description
- Designs, implements, verifies, and supports the enablement and adoption of hardware design tools, flows, and methodologies.
- Defines methodologies for hardware development related to technology node and EDA tool enabling.
- Creates and verifies unique hardware designs, assembles design platforms, and integrates components into hierarchical systems to provide deployment coverage for end-to-end EDA tool testing on new technology nodes.
- Develops, tests, and analyzes engineering design automation tools, flow, and methodologies to improve efficiency and optimize power and performance.
- Supports development and enhancement of platforms, databases, scripts, and tools flows for design automation.
- Builds deep understanding of digital design, verification, structural and physical layout, full chip integration, power and performance, clocking, and/or timing to enhance future TFM development.
- Collaborates with EDA vendors on defining and early testing of next generation design tools.

Intel's Front-End CAD is a research and development team that develops and delivers Solutions (TFMs: Tools, Flows, Methods) for complete front-end system including static lint checking, functional and formal verification, emulation, prototyping, that are critical to enabling SW/HW co-design and accelerate time to market for our SoCs.
As part of this team, you will be developing and applying computer aided design (CAD) software engineering methods, theories and research techniques in the investigation and solution of technical problems.
- Assessing architecture and hardware limitations, plans technical projects in the design and development of CAD software.
- Defines and selects new approaches and implementation of CAD software engineering applications and design specifications and parameters.
- FECAD is a highly exciting and challenging environment. We are exposed to broad scope of mission critical SoC challenges and are looking for qualified engineers with several soft skills including:
- Ability to act as ambassador for new technologies and actively engage with global cross-site teams
- Ability to lead projects, delegate tasks and motivate engineers
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work independently, prioritize, manage risks, evaluate tradeoffs, make quick decisions and communicate project status
- Interfacing with multiple customers, understanding their requirements, setting expectations and delivering on commitments.
- Ability to work with hardware and software teams developing advanced technologies using design and SW best practices
- Analytical problem solving, team oriented and ability to work in a collaborative environment
Qualifications:
Btech/MTech/PhD degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering or related disciplines with minimum 5 years of relevant industry experience.
Minimum Requirements:
- Experience in SOC/Subsystem connectivity, Integration and RTL generation domain.
- Development and exposure to related tools (industry standard or otherwise) in this domain like Defacto, RTLA, Core tools etc.
- Exposure and understanding and interpretation of IPXACTs in reference to IP integration to SOC.
- Experience with logic/RTL design using Verilog, System Verilog.
- Experience with DART, Python, Perl, Shell scripting, Make files.
- Exposure to ROHD framework is a plus.
- Experience across all Front-End domains - Build, Simulation, Static Checks, Integration and Handoff, Validation and Emulation.
- Knowledge of Linux/Unix and Windows based S/W development environments and tools.
- Ability to communicate effectively with various technical groups and to coordinate activities amongst those groups.
