We are seeking an Information Security DevSecOps Engineer Undergrad Intern to join our dynamic Agile delivery team of information security professionals. In this role, you will contribute to providing best-in-class security capabilities that keep Intel secure and deliver significant business value to our stakeholders.
Ideal candidates are undergraduate students in their 3rd or 4th year of undergraduate program, eager to work part-time (20 hours per week) for 1 year (12 months internship length) and committed to enhancing their information security skills in a collaborative and innovative environment.
In this role, your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
- Security Compliance Management: Collaborating with Information Security Analysts to manage and maintain security compliance for systems and applications, ensuring alignment with industry standards and regulations.
- System Automation and Integration: Partnering with Database Administrators and Engineers to assist with system automation, upgrades, and integration with various systems, applications, and data sources, enhancing operational efficiency and security.
- Automation Deployment and Configuration Management: Working alongside Architects to support the deployment of automation solutions and manage application configurations, contributing to continuous integration, delivery, and management processes to optimize performance.
- Cross-Functional Project Support: Engaging with Stakeholders to support key projects and initiatives, contributing to the development and implementation of innovative security solutions.
- Security Control Optimization: Evaluating and optimizing security controls to minimize risk and enhance system performance, ensuring robust protection across the enterprise.
- Process Innovation and Improvement: Innovating internal processes by automating tasks, optimizing data delivery, and reducing technical debt, thereby supporting and enhancing key security systems.

Qualifications
You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Experience listed below would be obtained through a combination of your schoolwork/classes/research and/or relevant previous job and/or internship experiences. This is an entry level position and will be compensated accordingly.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Information Security, Cybersecurity, or a related field with 3+ months of related knowledge/ experience in the items provided below:
- Information Security Models and Concepts: Understanding information security models such as the CIA Triad (Confidentiality, Integrity, Availability), Zero Trust Architecture, and Defense in Depth. These models provide a framework for implementing robust security measures and protecting sensitive data.
- Data Analytics: Utilizing data analytics techniques to analyze security data, identify patterns, and make informed decisions. This skill is essential for detecting anomalies and potential security threats, thereby enhancing overall security posture.
- Cloud Computing and Cloud Security Components: Familiarity with cloud computing platforms including knowledge of securing cloud-based systems, understanding cloud responsibility model, and implementing best practices for cloud security.
Preferred Qualifications:
- IT/Security Systems Engineering: Familiarity with IT/Security Systems Engineer/Administrator duties, providing a strong foundation in managing and securing IT infrastructure.
- Secure Software Development Lifecycle: Understanding of Secure Software Development Lifecycle principles, including Agile methodologies, to ensure security is integrated throughout the development process.
- Security Vulnerabilities and Remediation: Knowledge of security vulnerabilities and remediation techniques to effectively identify and address potential threats.
- Security Models and Frameworks: Basic understanding of security models and frameworks such as the NIST 800 series, providing a foundation for implementing effective security controls.
- Security Policies and Standards: Basic understanding of security policies, standards, and procedures to ensure compliance and governance.
- Professional Certifications: Possession of or progress towards professional certifications through industry-recognized organizations such as CompTIA, ITIL, SANS, ISACA, or ISC2 (e.g., CISSP), demonstrating a commitment to professional development and expertise in the field.
Preferred Technical Skills:
- Data Science and Analytics: Proficiency in data science, data analytics, and data visualization/reporting techniques and tools to effectively interpret and present security data.
- Database Management: Experience with Microsoft SQL and relational databases (SQL Server/MySQL) as well as NoSQL databases, enabling efficient data storage and retrieval.
- Scripting and Programming: Basic scripting skills in Ansible, Python, PowerShell, and JavaScript, along with database (SQL) skills, to automate tasks and enhance security operations.
- System Administration: Proficiency in Linux and Windows system administration, ensuring secure and efficient operation of diverse computing environments.
- AI Concepts and Applications: Understanding of AI concepts, applications, and development to leverage artificial intelligence in enhancing security measures.
- Service Management Applications: Experience with Service Management applications, including ServiceNow, to streamline IT service delivery and support.
