This role requires deep expertise in the utility market and established connections with key stakeholders inside utilities.
The successful candidate will work across organizations and companies to align and drive toward a common vision and go to market objectives to transform the industry. The candidate will lead the local ecosystem development in partnership with local utilities and industry consortia, driving adoption of workload consolidation and software defined solutions to meet industry needs and business objectives.
As a Hardware Technical Marketing Engineer for the energy sector, this candidate will play a critical role by providing technical support for Intel products, contributing to new product development, and representing customer needs to engineering teams. The candidate will collaborate with the sales team to address technical questions, participate in customer visits and presentations, and conduct competitive product analysis and market research.
In addition, the candidate will create and oversee the production of technical marketing content, such as product demonstration videos, tutorials, technical blogs, white papers, and presentations. Working closely with customers, the candidate will facilitate Intel product adoption by educating them on the latest technological advancements.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications are required to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.
Minimum Qualifications:
Electrical Engineering BS/MS or equivalent with 10+ years of experience in electric power utilities working on protection, automation and control systems.
10+ years industry experience in utility industry and/or its ecosystem.
Deep understanding of standards and practices in electric power Generation, Transmission and distribution networks.
Preferred Qualifications:
In this technical marketing role, you will:
- Demonstrate industry depth, able to articulate the challenger sales pitch to the utilities and engage with them on solving the complex problems in innovative ways. This includes deep utility industry insights and prior experience in utility industry, ideally coupled with experience in substation digitalization including protection, automation and control systems.
- Thrive at the intersection of business and technology. This includes a thorough understanding of utility industry requirements around grid modernization, as well as a deep understanding of utilities grid operational infrastructure including protection, automation and control systems.
- Develop and guide the execution of Intel's go big energy strategy for utility industry in partnership with internal and external stakeholders.
- Prioritize energy sector use cases and launch industry solutions to solve top priority business problems with strategic initiatives, including substation modernization and helping power industry to maximize the utilization of renewable energy into power grid.
- Work tightly with cross functional teams inside Intel to develop collateral for utilities, educate major ecosystem partners in energy sector including OEMs, ISVs and EPCs.
- Work with internal stake holders to define and communicate vision and strategy to accelerate the adoption of substation digitalization in utility industry.
- Develop thought leadership, drive the industry transformation, and articulate the benefits of Intel technologies in the utility industry also developing long-term strategic plans for specific product areas.
- Represent Intel at events and influence executive decision making with industry-leading perspectives to create awareness and excitement for the tangible benefits of digitalization.
- Guide cross functional teams in their messaging through various types of marketing collateral such as videos', presentations, white papers and solution briefs for utility sector.
- Recruit, mentor and motivate team of talented ecosystem partners to develop products using Intel technologies.
- The ideal candidate should exhibit the following skills -
- Demonstrate utility industry depth with a proven track record of building trust-based relationships. Broad understanding of trends in the utility industry, likely customer pain points, and ability to anticipate future needs.
- Be a trusted partner to senior leadership at the utilities and ecosystem coupled with the demonstrated ability to build followership based on trust vs. authority.
- Exhibit problem-solving skills combined with ability to motivate teams in achieving joint goals
- Demonstrate proven track record of building trust-based relationships with utility executives
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and deliver results
- Direct and cross-functional team leadership
- Ability to work effectively with senior technical leadership with strategic ecosystem partners.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Conflict management and resolution
- Strong understanding of utility sector acumen
