Director of Strategy and Incubation Office
Job Description
Altera is seeking a dynamic and visionary Director of Strategy and Incubation Office to lead the development of new business strategies and incubate innovative solutions that drive the company’s long-term growth. This role is ideal for a strategic thinker with a strong background in the semiconductor industry, particularly in FPGAs, and a proven track record of driving innovation from concept to commercialization.
The Director will be responsible for identifying and nurturing new growth opportunities, developing strategic initiatives, and leading cross-functional teams to bring innovative ideas to market. This position requires a forward-thinking leader who can balance strategic vision with practical execution.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategy Formation: Lead the development of long-term strategic plans that align with Altera’s overall business objectives. Identify emerging trends, market opportunities, and potential threats to guide strategic decision-making.
Innovation Incubation: Establish and lead the Incubation Office, focusing on the identification, evaluation, and development of new market opportunities and business models. Oversee the incubation process from idea generation through business model development, prototyping, and transition to execution.
Market and Competitive Analysis: Leverage market research and competitive analysis to identify unmet needs, potential new markets, and areas for innovation within the FPGA and broader semiconductor industry.
Cross-functional Leadership: Collaborate with R&D, engineering, product management, marketing, and sales teams to ensure alignment of strategic initiatives with the company’s technical capabilities and market goals. Drive cross-functional teams to execute on incubation projects.
Strategic Initiative Execution: Oversee the execution of key strategic initiatives, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with the company’s business objectives. Provide guidance and support to teams throughout the project lifecycle.
Technology Priorities: Work closely with the technology and product teams to drive market development priorities that define Altera’s technology and product roadmap, ensuring it aligns with long-term strategic goals and emerging industry trends.
Performance Metrics and Reporting: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the progress of strategic initiatives and incubation projects. Provide regular updates to senior leadership on strategy execution, project milestones, and market developments.
Leadership and Team Development: Build and lead a high-performing team within the Strategy and Incubation Office. Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in strategy development, business incubation, or a related field within the semiconductor or technology industry.
Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of the FPGA market, semiconductor technologies, and industry dynamics. Experience in identifying and developing new business opportunities within the tech sector.
Innovation Focus: Demonstrated experience in leading innovation initiatives, from ideation through to commercialization. A track record of successfully bringing new products or business models to market.
Strategic Thinking: Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to translate market insights into actionable business strategies.
Leadership: Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive projects to successful completion. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
Entrepreneurial Mindset: A self-starter with a passion for innovation and a willingness to take calculated risks. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Travel: Willingness to travel as required to support strategic initiatives and partnerships.
