Transceiver Specialist Field Application Engineer
Job Description
Altera delivers cutting-edge custom logic solutions across a wide spectrum of customer markets . To help our customers to develop innovative solutions we are looking to expand our team with a motivated Transceiver Specialist Field Applications Engineer (FAE) to work with our EMEA sales team.
As an FAE in our sales organization, you will understand our customers' system requirements and provide expertise in the use of our products, more specifically providing support on our transceiver technologies. You will enable our customers to bring competitive products to market in a timeframe that maximizes their success. You will be the technical consultant to our key customers as they go from architectural evaluation through completion of their designs. In this role, you will partner with FAEs and TAMs (Sales) to develop the customer base and need therefore a strong appetence in business development.
Your specific role will include the following:
- Contribute and execute to territory, account and opportunity plans as part of the Sales Team.
- Engage with our customer's high level system architects and key decision makers to understand their systems applications, influence their design choices, and provide creative solutions to their problems, ensuring that they are architected with and around Altera products.
- Align with the key influencers both at Altera and the customer's technical staff to coordinate design support and technical training.
- Demonstrate teamwork and ability to work effectively in informal and formal teams with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
- Have strong presentation and communication skills to present capabilities of Altera's transceiver portfolio and perform demonstrations of feasibility studies and proofs of concept in customer meetings and seminars.
- Ensure that Altera's roadmap is aligned with our Customers long-term requirements by being an internal advocate for their product and support needs.

Qualifications
- BS in Electronics Engineering or equivalent with minimum of 8 years of transceivers experience.
- Experience in FPGA, ASIC or ASSP with embedded transceivers.
- Strong experience working with transceivers technology like transmission lines, signal integrity, industry protocols (including Ethernet and PCIe).
- Must have good presentation and interpersonal skills.
- The person filling this role should be comfortable presenting technical solutions to customers.
- Should be proficient in the use of FPGA development tools.
- Regular Business travel required across EMEA and occasionally in the US.
- Would suit an engineer looking to move into a sales role.
