NPU Lab and Automation Engineer

As an NPU Lab and Automation Engineer you will be active in supporting NPU group development activities across all our development disciplines.
Activities will include:
Automation and Infrastructure Development
Designing, developing, and maintaining automation solutions to streamline test and validation workflows, with a focus on scalability and efficiency.
Building CI/CD pipelines to automate software integration, testing, and deployment processes.
Utilizing tools such as Ansible, Python, and other scripting languages to automate hardware setup and configuration tasks.
Hardware and Software Debugging
Diagnosing and resolving issues with test platforms and supporting hardware, including pre-production and experimental systems.
Troubleshooting software configuration problems, ensuring toolchains, libraries, and dependencies are correctly installed and optimized.
Working collaboratively with development teams to identify and address bottlenecks or compatibility issues between hardware and software.
Operational Excellence
Implementing processes to track and optimize utilization of lab resources, including hardware inventory and compute capacity.
Developing monitoring solutions for hardware and automation reliability, ensuring robust uptime and performance metrics.
Proactively identifying opportunities for process improvement and automation to enhance operational efficiency.
This role comprises significant operational management and business management elements in areas such as: Environmental Health and Safety, logistics and controlled technology, privacy (GDPR), operational management and finance.
Qualifications
Minimum of 3 years work experience is required.
Honours degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering (or similar discipline)
Desired Technical Skills
Expertise in automation tools such as Ansible, Jenkins, and Terraform.
Proficiency in scripting languages like Python, Bash, and PowerShell.
Familiarity with hardware setup, including board bring-up, peripheral configuration, and debugging interfaces (e.g., JTAG, UART).
Experience with version control systems such as Git and collaboration platforms like GitLab/GitHub.
Knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
