This internship position is with Security and Privacy Research group in Intel Labs. Our mission is to drive industry-leading research on Trustworthy Execution, Confidential Computing, Secure AI/ML, Cryptography, and Privacy to deliver higher robustness and assurance on Intel platforms.
As an intern in this position, you will join a team of accomplished security technologists to uniquely focus on the definition of next generation of security solutions. In our work we are evaluating how new processor and software techniques can ensure that critical data remains secure, even in highly distributed cloud computing environments. You will focus on extending the trust from CPU to XPUs with a focus on confidential AI. You will have the opportunity to explore the latest software and system architectures for cloud computing. You will develop prototypes to evaluate and enhance your research ideas. You will have the opportunity to showcase your work through demos, whitepapers, and presentations at internal and external forums. your work will help in laying the foundation for future Intel products.

Qualifications
You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Experience listed below would be obtained through a combination of your work experience, graduate school, post-doc research and/or relevant internship experiences.
Minimum Qualifications:
You must be a student enrolled in a Ph.D. degree program in Computer Science and/or Electrical Engineering or equivalent with focus on software and platform security.
Candidate must have 1+ years of work or educational experience with the following:
- Experience programming in C/C++
- Familiarity developing system and application software for Linux based systems
- A basic understanding of fundamental security concepts
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with designing and developing software for cloud and datacenter environments
- Strong system software development and debugging experience
- Familiarity with Intel architecture
- Experience working with accelerators such as GPU
- Experience working with HPC and MPI
- Confidential Computing
- Experience with memory safe languages like Rust

This role is available as a fully home-based and generally would require you to attend Intel sites only occasionally based on business need. This role may also be available as our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site.
