Intel's Silicon Photonics team is currently seeking a Sr. Product Applications Engineer to support its growth in the components business.
Job description:
- Interface directly with a diverse customer base to support design-in with new products and customers, as well as post-sales technical problem resolution.
- Work closely with Product Managers, Business Development, Sales, and Engineering to offer our customers technical enablement to move fast from kick-off to HVM-ready product built around Intel's silicon photonics and mixed-signal electronics chips.
- In some engagements this position may also act as Customer Project Manager, managing the customer engagement and driving the opportunity to Design-Win.
The ideal candidate should exhibit behavioral traits that indicate:

- Excellent problem-solving skills.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Generation of technical product collateral to enable customers' transceiver design efforts.
- Interface with customer during design-in phase, providing transceiver design input and supporting technical problem resolution.
- Provide first-level technical support to customers in case of issues.
- Engaging Intel SPPD Engineering team as needed to address customers' issues and questions.
- Facilitate as technical point of contact between Intel R/D and customer R/D team.
- Execute experiments to generate data and test results as proof points for customers
- In some engagements manage the overall design-in with a customer, project manage the engagement, acting as primary interface, tracking schedule and activities, and organizing partner groups' support to help our customers develop datacom transceivers, and drive the business opportunity to win and revenue.
- Support the PLM to allocate internal resources and prepare marketing with sales materials and samples.
- Collect customer and market-wide information to inform and develop product roadmap and requirements.
- Identify new potential customers based on understanding of product segment and market.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with our key customers' and partners technical experts and decision makers.
Qualifications
You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.
Minimum requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
- 8+ years of technical industry experience in optical networking equipment, optical components design, transceivers, or applications engineering.
The 8+ years of experience must include:
- Customer-facing role as the primary technical interface for optical components business.
- Industry standards and form-factors for datacenter optical transceivers.
- Hands-on experience testing, characterizing, and troubleshooting optical transceivers and components.
- Optical networking technology, optical links, and optical components.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with Silicon Photonics technology and products, technical experience from system OEM or end-customer datacenter operator.
- Master's degree in electrical engineer or related field.
- Able to speak professional Mandarin
