Software Development Tools Engineer

Job Description

In this role, you will be developing code to help create and maintain a backend framework and frontend dashboard for implementing a suite of automated quality checks for technical content. As the framework matures, you'll contribute specific test modules as plug-ins to this system. Not all quality checks for content are possible to automate, so to ensure that technical documents don't have gaps or errors, you will consume content as an external developer would, setting up hardware in the cloud, stepping through the procedures, and running code examples. Additionally, you will train authors and other stakeholders on tools and technologies as needed. Generative AI is opening up new opportunities in all areas of content development, including quality. You will help develop and implement AI-assisted solutions in this space.

Qualifications

This position requires excellent communication skills and strong technical abilities. You should have a minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

Additional qualifications include demonstrated experience with:

• Common, general-purpose scripting languages, like PERL or Python
• Source control software, especially Git

Considered a plus is experience with:

• Standard XML editors, like Oxygen or XMetaL
• Single-source documentation markup languages such as DITA XML, reStructuredText, and Markdown
• Documentation generators and processors (Doxygen, Sphinx, Darwin Information Typing Architecture (DITA) Open Toolkit, etc.)
• Enterprise Content Management Systems (Adobe Experience Manager, RWS Tridion Docs, etc.)
• Creating or maintaining documentation targeted at a technical developer audience

Working Model

This role will be eligible for our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site. In certain circumstances the work model may change to accommodate business needs.
