The Network and Edge group (NEX) at Intel drives the software-defined transformation of the world's infrastructure - in data centers, in networks, and at the edge. We are a team of problem solvers, experimenters, and innovators who are dedicated to designing the network technologies that currently lead and continue to transform data-center and AI ecosystems.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced embedded FW engineer to join our Security/Crypto IP team. We are a small, cohesive team, inspired by the pursuit of rigorous, first principles engineering.

This role involves developing cutting-edge Security features in our next generation Crypto IP for a variety of Intel devices. Development in this crypto IP is largely microcode based, in a pre-silicon environment where expertise across the FW/HW stack is an asset (e.g. being comfortable with Verilog simulation waveform debugging).

Notable Security concepts/areas central to this role include Post Quantum Computing resistance, Secure Boot, Device Attestation/SPDM, Root of Trust for measurements/identity, Encryption, x.509 certificates, FIPS, Hashing, Key management, and the like.

Our work encompasses every aspect from concept to implementation, including design, coding, testing, modeling, and debugging - the whole nine yards.

The firmware engineer should possess the behavioral traits below in addition to the skills and experience listed in the requirements for this role:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Computer/Electrical/Electronics/Physics), Computer Science or similar.
  • 2+ years of experience in embedded firmware development.



Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in embedded firmware development.
  • Proficiency with assembly language programming.
  • Proficiency with C/C++ programming.
  • Proficiency with python programming.
  • Proficiency with systematic root cause analysis of complex issues.
  • Proficiency with pre-silicon simulation waveform analysis.
  • Some experience with Verilog / RTL design.
  • Working knowledge of ASN.1 Encoding.
  • Proficiency with systematic root cause analysis of complex issues.
  • Working knowledge of some related security technologies such as Attestation, SPDM, Encryption, Hashing, Image verification, x.509 certificate chains, Elliptic Curve cryptography, Key derivation, Symmetric and Asymmetric keys, Post Quantum Computing resistant algorithms.
  • Working knowledge of Threat Modeling and Fuzzing

Requirements listed would be obtained through a combination of industry relevant job experience, internship experiences and or schoolwork/classes/research.

Annual Salary Range for jobs which could be performed in Canada:CAD 101,380.00-152,180.00
Salary range dependent on a number of factors including location and experience


Working Model


This role will be eligible for our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site. In certain circumstances the work model may change to accommodate business needs.
