Job Description

In Q4 2023, Intel announced Altera will be reported as a separate business unit beginning on January 1, 2024 with ongoing support from Intel. This position is associated to that standalone business strategy and is expected to fully transition to a standalone company at some time in the future .

As an Embedded Firmware Engineer within the Design Creation and Debug Group, you can expect to work on RTOS Ports, Baremetal Hardware Abstraction API, Application Examples and Software Build Tools for Intel’s FPGA-based soft-core processor.  The goal of this team is to advance Intel’s FPGA-based soft-core processors, working with internal and external stakeholders to incorporate the processor into their solution.  This team is responsible for both the hardware design of the softcore processor as well as the software development environment supporting its use.  This position will also contribute to architecture experimentation and benchmarking of the embedded soft-core processors as they’re optimized and developed.

We have the fortune of interacting in the highly dynamic space encompassing programmable hardware design, embedded system creation and embedded software development; designing tools and infrastructure to empower design engineers in all three realms.

As a Software Engineer in this position, you will need to be an experienced firmware developer with specific experience and interest in creating a broad ecosystem of tools and solutions surrounding the processor.  We’ve assembled an energetic team of quality people and are looking for a couple more experienced programmers to help with the effort.
