Automation Equipment Technician AET

Job Description

Equipment Technicians perform electrical or mechanical troubleshooting to determine problems in nonfunctioning electromechanical equipment used in the manufacturing process.

Dismantles, adjusts, repairs, and assembles equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, operating or repair manuals, rough sketches or drawings.

May also perform setup, calibration, and preventative maintenance on production equipment. Assignments are semiroutine in nature.

Work performed within generally defined parameters.

Some degree of judgment required in resolving nonstandard problems. Normally receives general instructions on most work.


  • Level 6 / 7 in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or equivalent .

Additional qualifications/experience:

  • Strong written and communication skills/self motivated and demonstrated capability to work unsupervised.
  • Knowledge of robotic systems to include software, mechanical, electrical, electronic, and the ability to read schematics and mechanical drawings
  • Demonstrate previous experience in the ability to prioritize and perform advanced troubleshooting/repairs and complex infrequent preventive maintenance in direct support of a high volume manufacturing operation.
  • Candidate must have an understanding of mechanical systems which include belts, pulleys, motors, encoders and their drives.
  • Prior experience working on robotic equipment is an advantage.
