Job Description

Intel PSG Data Center and Communication SSE (Systems Solutions Engineering) works with Intel PSG's strategy customers together to design solutions covering a wide range of network applications and datacenter acceleration by FPGA. The network applications include traditional network equipment such as switches, bridges, routers, and new network equipment which build SDN and NFV. The datacenter acceleration applications include FPGA based SmartNIC, which makes FPGA to accommodate OVS (Open vSwitch) and VirtIO BE acceleration. Meanwhile, PSG networking SSE will pay big attention on telecom NFV application such as vBNG, vBRAS, vEPC and vCPE. And other computation intensive offloads by FPGA will be PSG networking SSE design target.

Intel PSG's Data Center and Communication Division SSE team in Poland is seeking an  experienced SW design engineer.

More detailed responsibilities and duties:

  • Work with PSG Poland/UK/China networking SSE design teams on driver development about telecom NFV and datacenter application with Intel® PSG FPGA products.
  • Be responsible for designing, coding, and unit testing Linux Driver to support new functions implemented inside FPGA.
  • Participating in creating solutions and solving general technical and performance issues as they are found.
  • Support customer driver development to enable FPGA functions; work with customer application or kernel software teams to integrate FPGA drivers 
  • Peer review of written software design specifications, peer review of developed code with other geo software engineers


  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent, with at least four years of relevant software development experience.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP network operation and Ethernet.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in C / C++ development in a Windows and / or Linux environment and / or embedded systems development.
  • A practical knowledge about Ethernet, Internet protocols
  • Comfortable task switching and managing multiple tasks at the same time


  • Knowledge of Linux operating system internals and theory of operation
  • Advanced Linux programming concepts (pthreads, shared memory and other IPC, driver interface)
  • Knowledge of x86 processor architecture and concepts like paging features, protected mode, SMP support
  • Knowledge and good understanding of UNIX/ Linux/ device drivers with focus on Networking subsystem.
  • Experience in user mode development
