Embedded Tools Team Manager

Job Description

Directs the software systems development function, including the design, development, troubleshooting, and debugging of software programs for software enhancements and new products. Oversees the development of software and software tools used for design, infrastructure, and platforms, including operating systems, compilers, routers, networks, utilities, and databases. Determines hardware compatibility and/or hardware design. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

Job Description: Intel's PSG Embedded Tools Group is looking for a team lead to manage development of our Nios Embedded Design Suite, SoC Embedded Design Suite, and other tools associated with those products. As a team lead, you will direct the efforts of both experienced and junior engineers, provide leadership and direction to the team, organize and track schedules and team activities, report team status to higher management, and be responsible for shipping these tools on time with high quality. Duties include: Managing the schedule for Nios EDS and SoC EDS.  Working with marketing to define and priorities the work required for these tool suites.  Mapping team resources to the required development tasks.  Tracking software quality, including traceability from requirements through test, defect coordination and prioritization, and status reporting. Coordinating the work of others to deliver a tool suite that contains many disparate tools and development activities.  Coordinate work on a testing farm for regression testing of these embedded tools.  


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
-3 years as first-level manager, managing a team of 4-8 direct reports
-Familiarity with CPU and toolchains
-Familiarity with ARM CPUs and toolchains
-Working knowledge of Linux, Unix and Windows development environments
-Working knowledge of revision control systems
-Working knowledge of defect tracking systems
-Experience implementing traceability between requirements, code and tests
-Experience managing and delegating workloads among a development team
-6 years of C/C++ embedded development experience

Desired Qualifications
-Familiarity with makefiles and shell scripting
-Familiarity with NIOS and ARM A53/A9 CPUs and Toolchains
-Experience with high level scripting languages, for example Python or TCL
-Familiarity with Perforce and Git
-Involvement and contribution to open source projects
