Electronic-Photonic Software Tools Engineer Architects, designs, leads pathfinding, development, validation of software solutions in support of tools, flows, PDK design components, and methodologies used in Electronic Photonic design automation, software products, or ecosystem enabling. Engages with internal/external partners on technical requirements and with technologists across Intel, and within the industry, to evaluate feasibility and priorities. Designs, develops, tests, and debugs software tools, flows, PDK design components, and methodologies used in Electronic Photonic design automation and by teams in the design of hardware products, process design, or manufacturing. Captures user stories/requirements, writing both functional and test code, automating build and deployment. Performs unit, integration, and end to end testing. Ensures efficient planning, provisioning, configuration, and maintenance of cloud computing infrastructure including interactive and batch computing, ticketing, storage, and licensing. Lead developer of Design Environment and CI/CD pipelines used to build, validate, and release Electronic Photonics Design Automation hardware and software products. Installation and automation of EDA tools and flows.

Key Responsibilities include developing and deploying key EPDA Tools, Flows, Methods (TFM) for high-speed, analog mixed-signal Photonic IC designs from architecture to high volume. As one of the Physical Verification experts in the team, you will be expected to assume a technical leadership role in the development of design TFM for multiple engineering customers (Internal or External) using industry standard EDA software such as Cadence, Mentor, Synopsys, etc.


Minimum Qualifications: 

The candidate must have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field. 

8-10 years of experience in Electronic Design Software Development and Automation focused on Physical Verification, Layout verification, and runset development

Preferred Qualifications: 

MS with 6+ years /Ph.D with 4+ years of experience in Electronic Design Software Development and Automation focused on Physical Verification, Layout verification, and runset development

Physical Verification runset development, DRC, LVS, Calibre SVRF, Parasitic extraction 

TCL, Scripting skills and Skill coding 

DRC/LVS runset development or support in any of the following EDA tools and flows

- Synopsys ICV, Siemens/Mentor Calibre, Cadence PVS/Pegasus 

Test case generation automatic manual, QA and validation 

Developing Smart Fill decks

Unix or Linux operating system

Experience with multiple foundry technologies 

Virtuoso environment 

Software programming skills in C++ or Python, Perl 

Versatile in Design Tools, flows and Methods, broad expertise with Pcells, Schematic Driven Layout (SDL), Floor planning, Infrastructure and Environment set up and version control 

Excellent people skills with an ability to influence stakeholders, mentor and lead cross functional team of Layout, designers, fab process integrators 

Expert technical problem solver with hands on execution experience with TI, TO process for complex hierarchical PIC designs

Familiarity or experience and expertise in Photonic IC (PIC) design and/or automation will be highly desirable

Working Model

This role will be eligible for our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site. In certain circumstances the work model may change to accommodate business needs.
