The E-core Microcode Team at Intel is looking for candidates who have an interest in X86 Architecture and developing Microcode for Intel's next generation E-core microprocessors.

As an CPU Microcode Design Engineer, you will be responsible for coding microcode features for X86 microprocessors.  Willing to work in a fast-paced and innovative team environment. Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Defining and developing innovative Architecture and Microarchitecture for Intel's next generation E-core Microprocessor.
  • Analyzing existing developed code, understanding and gathering new requirements, developing new algorithms or changes required, documenting for review and communication, creating and negotiating a development plan, writing the code, and debugging that code for functionality and performance requirements.
  • Interacting and communicating with Architecture, Logic design, and Validation teams to achieve their coding goals.
  • Supporting this code through tape-in and future steppings, either through patching or code rewrites. Being member of the Microcode team, candidate will be also reviewing others' code and helping to improve group productivity and accuracy.

The CPU Microcode Design Engineer should possess the attributes below:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong collaboration, teamwork, and interaction skills



Qualifications


What we need to see (Minimum Qualifications):

  • The ideal candidate must possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering with 3+ years of experience described below or a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering with 2+ years' experience.
  • 2+ years’ experience with firmware development in C or C++.
  • 1+ years’ experience or education in Computer Architecture and/or Micro Architecture techniques.
  • 1+ years’ experience with logic design using Verilog and debug using industry standard tools. 


How to Stand out (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering with 4+ years' experience.
  • 2+ years’ experience simulator development using C++.
  • 2+ years’ experience logic design using Verilog and debug using industry standard tools. 
  • Strong familiarity with CPU architecture/assembly

Working Model


This role will be eligible for our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site. In certain circumstances the work model may change to accommodate business needs.
