Windows OS Engineering Technician

Job Description

The Windows OS team is a highly technical team of engineers and architects that enables and optimizes Intel products on Microsoft Windows OS. We are searching for energetic and passionate lab technician with a focus on client PC support work & server administration. In this position, you will have the wonderful opportunity to shape the future! You will help enable the team to achieve maximum performance systems using Windows OS from tablets to high-end desktops. You will be working closely with engineers, system admins, and other technicians to ensure high quality data is provided for analysis on qualified platforms. Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to: * Coordinate with a group of 5-7 lab technicians & engineers to ensure PC Setup & data collection takes place quickly & accurately* Work & collaborate with cross-site team members within the same Division as well as team members within other Business Units* Support & upgrade to all phases of Intel pre-production platform hardware,- Power On, Alpha, Beta, QS.* Ensure platforms are re-worked to the latest guidance from the relevant Business unit * Ensure platforms are setup with the latest BKC and OS Drivers, Bios, Patches, uCode* Provide quality data collection environment through reliable hardware & test environment setup/support allowing Engineering teams to influence/drive architecture and product intercept on Intel Windows systems* Provide regular feedback leading to PC & Part orders necessary for WOS engineering lab work * Inventory tracking, lab storage, safety, audit compliance, lab space allocation & reconfiguration* Provide management & stakeholders regular reports on work in progress, issues, and solutions - Weekly reports & at times daily project updates.* Assist with Server/Share administration - Create, modify, migrate shares & data - Be comfortable with ACL adjustments/permissions & security for users, folders, groups* Debug access issues - Internet, file shares, tools, RDP, WiFi* Network connectivity & troubleshooting wired/wireless * Server Patching & Reboot assistance. Site/Lab power outage support - May require adjusted work schedules per event* Access point setup & deployment WPA/Encryption/SSID/NAT* Help drive local infrastructure & connectivity issues to completion while working with IT, LTDR, WAN, & ICC teams


Qualifications

Required Experience/Skills (Must Have)

  • Candidate should possess an AS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or other relevant degree.
  • 3-5 years' experience in a similar lab/engineering support role
  • Microsoft MCSA / MCSE or equivalent certification
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal & written technical communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge & experience with Intel Client PC hardware, upgrades, firmware, connectivity, troubleshooting XDP, WinDBG, NI Debug Hardware & Connectivity experience
