We are looking for an exceptional candidate to work in a challenging, fast paced environment developing next generation cutting-edge technology on optical modules. As a Firmware Engineer in SPPD Silicon Photonics Product Division Group you will be responsible for developing the module firmware. This will be very hands-on position. You will collaborate with multiple teams within the division that includes IC team, design engineers, validation team and manufacturing team to develop the product feature sets and to deliver firmware that meets or exceeds product requirements. This is a lead role and the individual will participate in architecture for all products that involve firmware.This position gives you the opportunity to be part of one of Intel's fastest growing teams and enables you to work on industry changing technologies. In this role your responsibilities will include but not be limited to: Firmware architecture for optical modules including state machine implementation, interrupt management, DDM and host management.SPI, I2C, and MDIO protocol knowledge is a must. Knowledge with any SerDes technology is a plus. Firmware and software development, review and maintenance. Strong with make environment and build scripts. Ability to perform unit, white-box, black-box and system level test and verification.Support validation, integration and manufacturing efforts through debug and technical support. Work with Marketing/FAEs to support customers' requirements and resolve issues.
Masters of Science or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering with 4+ years of relevant experience
Experience in interface standards I2C
Familiar with use of i2c host adaptors and i2c protocol analyzers.
Possess strong firmware architectural skills in designing, developing and debugging embedded firmware C programming language for transceiver required
Experience in low-level programming assembly language
Software skills Python, C
Familiar with GIT/Gerrit depositary system
Ability to read schematics, specify IC requirements and features and influence hardware design
Familiarity with MSA/Industry specs such as SFF8636 is preferred
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the specific ability to speak to various technical and management levels.
Proactive, collaborative and creative approach to innovation, technical development and consensus facilitation to produce optimal project results
Excellent time and task management, and inter-personal skills.
