Job Description

Join Intel as part of the BaseBand & SoC Development group in iCDG (Intel's Communication and Devices Group). We are looking for an experienced 4G/5G Modem Designer/Architect.

In this position you will lead and contribute to the architecture definition and design implementation of Intel's multimode cellular modem baseband 2G/3G/LTE and upcoming 5G. This includes defining and optimizing the modem architecture with end to end ownership.

Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Define the modem hardware architecture according to the use cases by closely interacting with other system engineering teams and architects, HW, FW and SW design teams
  • Provide high level architecture specifications
  • Develop concepts to improve performance, power and silicon area of our products, as well as improving design implementation and verification efficiency
  • Decision analysis with respect to overall system cost, area/power/effort impact and time-to-market of hardware modifications
  • Develop test strategies in cooperation with the component and system verification team
  • Coordinating and leading cross-functional activities algorithm / design / implementation / verification
  • Performance estimation and improvement by supporting modeling and verification activities
  • Validate architecture by coding hands-on System C models, identify areas for bandwidth optimization.

Qualifications

Master degree in Communication Systems, Computer Science or Electrical Engineering, PhD is a plus

At least 10 years proven experience with cellular modem standards 2G, 3G, LTE

  • Experience with 4G/5G modem architectures
  • Experience with HW/SW partitioning and their impacts
  • Experience with power control and power saving mechanisms
  • Experience in writing specifications on system and component level
  • Experience ASIC development, RTL coding, verification and/or FPGA prototyping is a plus
  • Experience in software development/engineering with C/C++, Matlab, SystemC, Unix, scripting
  • Self-driven and entrepreneurial way of working
  • Excellent communication skills in English
  • Team-player
