Research Scientist

Job Description
The successful candidate will join a research team in Intel Labs where he/she will research and prototype approaches for workload/resource management and control theory of complex systems. The work will focus around deriving insights from instrumentation traces, exposing performance, bottlenecks and optimization opportunities that can be applied to improve orchestration and management capabilities for complex, large-scale, dynamic service environments using a model driven approach. You will rapidly create POCs to demonstrate effectiveness of the technologies and models that will focus on Dynamic Cyber-Physical Systems at the Edge. Research responsibilities will include theoretical analysis, functional design and prototyping of capabilities which transform heterogeneous infrastructure management and service delivery by delivering optimal resource utilization at required levels of dependability adaptability, reliability, control.We are looking for an innovative thinker who can perform disciplined research and develop approaches for self-managing, learning and adaptation at scale.


Qualifications

Key Requirements & Skills you will need - BS/MS in CS, EE or similar, PhD preferred. - Minimum 7 years of experience with infrastructure/service management including performance analysis. - Strong understanding of system stacks including hardware environments, Linux OS, KVM , TCP/IP, Mesos/Kubernetes/OpenStack setup and experimentation / management, virtualization and containerization. - Strong Knowledge of Modern Intel platform architecture, including recent platform advancements in CPU microarchitecture, cache and memory, IO, virtualization, etc. - Excellent programming / scripting using Python, shell, Go. - Knowledge of non-relational and graph databases as well as distributed storage and processing environments e.g. InfluxDB, OpenTSDB, RethinkDB, Neo4j, OrientDB.- Use of analytics / machine learning techniques to deal with complex and multi-dimensional data predictive modeling, statistics, Model-based reasoning, Supervised and Unsupervised Learning and other data analysis techniques- Analyzing bottlenecks in an existing system design and propose improvements to increase performance, efficiency, scalability and stability of system components of a scalable distributed system. - Strong skills in bringing theoretical idea to proof of concept and use cases- Excellent communication skills
