Federal Income Tax Manager

Job Description

Overview

This role is part of the team responsible to plan and manage the preparation of the Company’s U.S. federal income tax returns as well as portions of its tax provision, and reports to the Federal Income Tax, Senior Manager.  Technical skills, team collaboration and attention to detail will be integral to the role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and review the preparation of US income tax return, related work products, and the domestic portions of the tax provisions for accuracy and completeness.
  • Perform research of relevant tax laws, regulations and rulings to determine proper tax return filing positions.
  • Review DMD, UNICAP, R&D, and M&A related entries.
  • Build audit files to support all issues related to US income tax positions and filings
  • Identify opportunities to improve the corporate income tax return processes and delivery schedule, and work with cross-functional teams to implement changes.
  • Ensure that the group’s income tax return processes, documentation and related systems are in compliance with Sarbanes Oxley internal control requirements.
  • Collaborate with other tax groups, business partners and external advisors to evaluate proposed transactions and investments, with focus on federal income tax implications.
  • Train and motivate staff to maintain strong federal income tax department.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have a positive, team-focused approach and demonstrated strengths in communication and technical skills. Specific requirements include:

  • At least 6 years of relevant combination of public accounting and industry experience in corporate income tax
  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting or Master’s degree in taxation is required and a CPA is preferred
  • Strong knowledge of US corporate income tax law and regulations as well as accounting for income taxes
  • Strong analytical thinking, writing, and communication skills
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong database and desktop application ability such as SAP and Excel
  • Experience with CorpTax
