Director - Software Engineering

Job Description

As the Director of Programmable Software Engineering, Penang (PSWE-P) group, you will lead the development of a diverse and growing engineering team executing across multiple software engineering disciplines to enable breakthrough customer productivity and success with Intel FPGAs. The PSWE group is part of the larger Programmable Solutions Engineering (PSE) organization within PSG.  The successful candidate will: plan, resource and direct activities within the Penang software team and partner with the wider engineering organization to meet schedules, standards and cost; cultivate and reinforce appropriate group values, norms and behaviors; identify and analyze problems, plans, tasks, and solutions; establish and oversee standards of excellence for group performance; provide guidance on employee development, performance, and productivity issues; use judgment on a variety of problems requiring deviation from standard practices. 

Qualifications

  • BSEE/Computer Science with 15+ years of experience in software engineering. Advanced degrees (MS/PhD) are a plus.
  • Experience across a breadth of software engineering and management disciplines including one or more of the following: EDA software infrastructure and optimization, embedded software and firmware, software quality assurance and modern software development best practices.
  • Experience in software development for FPGAs is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in leading and motivating a large software organization to growth and successful execution.
  • Proven ability to manage, lead and communicate across a global matrix organization.
  • Ability to manage a variety of complex functions and teams supporting a diverse set of software technologies.

Responsibilities:

We are seeking a dynamic individual to lead our growing Penang team. This leader will drive growth and development of a 100+ diverse engineering team and drive the group strategy within the broader PSG software organization.

Responsibilities include (but not limited to):

  • Developing the organization for sustained growth, and developing people for technical leadership and management roles
  • Developing a strategy and vision for state-of-the-art software infrastructure and tools delivered from the Penang team
  • Managing all engineering projects, initiatives, and processes locally in Penang in tight alignment with overall software engineering plans and commitments
  • Driving and supporting process improvements to improve efficiencies and productivity
  • Proactively managing stakeholders in the development process with clear decision making and crisp communication to ensure the organization meets committed budget and plans.
  • Influencing peers across planning / engineering / marketing to drive major initiatives in the interest of the overall business
  • Be an effective ambassador for PSG and Intel as member of the overall PSE Engineering Leadership team.
  • Demonstrate strong stakeholder management, communication skills and inspirational leadership.
  • Demonstrate instinctive team-building, builds strong relationships, role-models sound judgment in planning and decision-making.
