You are being offered a position as “Research Engineer” at VPG Architecture’s Advanced Research and Technology development team (ART.) The Intel Visual and Parallel Compute Group (VPG) designs and builds the hardware and software for the graphics, media, and display products that are integrated into Intel’s products for the PC, Data Center, handheld, and IOT market segments. ART is the avant-garde team that is chartered with cultivating evolutionary and disruptive technologies to drive and sustain best-in-class leadership of our graphics, media, and display solutions. Technology concepted and incubated in our team is productized and integrated in partnership with other architecture, hardware engineering, software engineering, and solutions teams. As a Research Engineer at ART, you will work under the direction of highly experienced research scientists and architects and do many of the following:
-Develop new ideas to solve existing problems more efficiently such as lowering the compute required for Virtual/Mixed Reality.
-Identify new problems/opportunities that improve the visual/compute experience for Intel’s customers.
-Arrive at solutions that are optimally factorized into hardware and software innovations.
-Develop software to model/prototype new ideas and evaluate their efficacy, efficiency, and architectural impact.
-Write technical papers and present at prestigious conferences, write specifications to drive implementation into h/w and s/w, and file for patents as appropriate.
-Continuously develop your skills across multiple disciplines such as hardware architecture; graphics; applied mathematics; signal, image, and video processing; and software.
Inside this Business Group
Education and Experience:
Bachelors in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
Candidate should have 3+ months of educational or work experience with the following:
-Strong programming skills in C/C++
-Understanding of Computer Graphics demonstrated through course work and/or projects.
Ability to comprehend current research by reading papers and duplicating results.
-GPU architecture knowledge and/or workload and performance characteristics
-Performance analysis using low-level tools
-Video game development, rendering software or visual effects in film
-Familiarity with parallel programming environments: TBB, OpenCL, CUDA, etc
-Writing, publication, presentations at events/conferences
