Job Description


The Client Graphics, GPU IP, and AI (CGAI) group is responsible for delivering industry-leading GPU IP (3D, media, display, compute) to all of Intel's business units and their market segments, including for the client, high-performance computing and AI, and edge computing. CGAI is also responsible for the development of specialized IP for the NPU (neural processing unit) and AI model deployment across Intel's hardware for the AI PC. Additionally, all aspects of client graphics engineering and management of the Intel Arc graphics portfolio and business is included within the purview of CGAI.

The Intel CGAI GPU Architecture team is looking for a passionate and driven individual to help define and build the next generation of GPU Architectures. This individual will be a senior member of the GPU Hardware Architecture team that work along with lead IP Architecture, SW Architecture Group and Engineering team to build the next Generation GPU Hardware Front End. This leadership position will be responsible to develop the technology for End-to-End definition and development of the front end for GPU engines(i.e. 3D, Compute, Copy and Media).

Responsibilities will include:

  • Pathfinding and definition of features to support future API requirements, Pathfinding and definition of scalable and configurable multi GPU Systems, scale capabilities for multi-context, support feature leadership and scale scheduling/submission performance.

  • Pathfinding and definition of programmable GPUs with application of scalar cores and microcontrollers.

  • Performance bottleneck analysis and ideation of solutions for GPU workloads.

  • Responsibilities will include working with all engineering groups including HW design, validation, modelling and driver development.

Qualifications


Minimum skills and experience:


Candidate must have a Bachelor's degree in Computer/Electrical Engineering or related field with 15+ years of experience. OR a Master's degree in Computer/Electrical Engineering or related field with 7+ years of experience. OR a Ph.D. in Computer/Electrical Engineering or related field with 4+ years of experience:

  • 15+ years of experience in Graphics domain and in devolvement of GPU architecture, microarchitecture and productizing of GPU Front End features.

  • Deep and through knowledge of GFX and Compute pipeline architectures, micro architecture, and data flow.

  • Experience in developing GPU Front End architectural specifications, defining performance metrics, defining performance/functional modeling requirements and performance study analysis to meet product PPA requirements.

  • Experience in developing HW-SW interface, GPU Workload Scheduling Mechanisms, GPU Synchronization methods, GPU State management, Producer/Consumer flows, Data Ordering and security aspects of GPU engines.

  • Experience in integration and defining of workflows between Scalar Cores and Micro-Controllers in GPU systems.

  • Experience in understanding the requirements and integration of GPU Engines in to Discrete, Data Center and Integrated SOC systems.

  • Exposure to GPU Virtualization and Protected Audio Video Paths.

  • Proficient in GPU microarchitectural flows, validation requirements, resolving Si Debug issues. Should provide expertise, guidance and consultation to RTL, SW, Pre-Si/Post-Si/System Validation teams during feature development to productization.


Preferred skills and experience:

  • Creative thinking and effective communication.

  • Understanding of Competitive architecture landscape and performance analysis.

  • Understanding of D3D, Vulkan, OGL,OCL and CUDA APIs.

  • Understanding of evolving and future fabrication process and packaging technologies and their implications to GPU road

Annual Salary Range for jobs which could be performed in US, California: $186,760.00-$299,166.00
*Salary range dependent on a number of factors including location and experience


Working Model


This role will be eligible for our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site. In certain circumstances the work model may change to accommodate business needs.
