Database Administrator
Job Description
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Conducts database operational duties such as patching, cloning environments, upgrading databases and applications, implementing backups and monitoring performance and procedures.
- Drives the design of data dictionaries, database structure and layout, database administration, configuration of implemented systems; manages infrastructure to meet performance, security, availability and other business requirements.
- Conducts the installation, upgrade, and management of database applications, minimizes database downtime, provides fast query responses, data management support and training to users.
- Extracts, transforms, and loads large volumes of data from multiple systems into a data warehouse environment. Sets up and controls employee access to database systems, programs and platforms to ensure appropriate use of data.
- Develops and maintains documents for database backup and recovery, data dictionaries and data flow diagrams or any other type of documentation necessary to meet the departmental and audit requirements in case of a security breach.
- Performs data security, privacy and integrity tests, reviews databases, user reports and system information while ensuring adherence to best practices in securely storing, backing up, and archiving the data.
Qualifications
You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are a plus factor in identifying top candidates.Experience listed below would be obtained through a combination of your schoolwork/classes/research and/or relevant previous job and/or internship experiences.
What we need to see (Minimum Qualifications):
- US Citizenship Required.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.
- 6+ months of experience using any of the following: Linux, C, C#, and C++ Language experience, Script Programming using Python/Perl.
- 6+ months working experience with both relational and NoSQL databases.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3+ months of experience in distributed computing and/or multi-threading.
- 6+ months of experience with encryption using SSL/RSA, web services, and UI development for applications
- 3+ months of experience with industry-standard tools such as Ansible, Cobbler, Cfengine, Containers and Kubernetes, Elastic, Kibana, Grafana
