Job Description


A Life Safety Technician works in a team environment (we are a 24x7 operation utilizing multiple shifts) and provides campus safety to the Ronler Acres campus in Hillsboro, Oregon in 2 ways:

  • Serve as Medical First Responder for the Ronler Acres campus, providing initial emergency medical care to campus residents.

  • Serve as a first responder to all campus emergencies: approx. 1,700 call outs a week, 3-4 medicals a week.

As a Life Safety Technician, you should be able to:

  • Maintain and troubleshoot (required testing on 13,000 fire and Hazardous Process Material (HPM) system points)

  • Provide direct link and coordination with emergency services (Fire Department, EMS, etc.) as a campus expert.

  • Provide initial Hazmat response to campus events including:

  • Spill identification/containment/cleanup

  • Odor investigation, containment, drive repairs

  • Provide sustaining support to the Campus Fire Alarm/Voice Evac/Gas

  • Detection systems including: Alarm Response, Initial/Annual Testing

  • Take an initial and annual Medical Monitoring, to ensure you have no physical restrictions that would prevent you from carrying out your duties as a Life Safety Technician.

  • Achieve ERT HazMat Certification, Oregon Dept of Transportation Certification as an Oregon Emergency Medical Responder.

  • Be prepared to respond to all areas and buildings on the RA Campus, including fab, office, parking areas and support buildings.

  • Assist in disaster support, triaging of personnel, or supporting personnel and outside responding agencies in treating or assisting personnel.

  • Provide evacuation support to ADA or injured personnel.

  • Participate on the Emergency Response Teams as an expert response and systems resource.

  • Maintain certification of a state motor vehicle driver's license.

  • Preventative Maintenance on equipment may require mechanical aptitude

Provide support to the campus Emergency Response Team including:

  • Training support/instruction

  • Drill support

  • Content expert during campus events

Additionally, As a Life Safety Technician, you should be able to:

  • Walk at least 5 miles in a 12-hour shift

  • Regularly lift up to 35 lbs.

  • Work from heights, using ladders, man-lifts, elevated platforms, scaffolding, etc.

  • Work with job-specific fixtures, basic hand tools, and supplied air or air-purifying respirators during your shift.

  • Work in a clean room environment, wearing coveralls, hoods, booties, safety glasses and gloves.

  • Spend the majority of the time /more than 90 percent (less break time) on the floor working on tool sets, investigating concerns in the facility, and/or standing/sitting for extended periods of time.

  • Work on a night or day shift compressed work week schedule. Shifts are twelve hours long and rotate from three to four days a week.

The candidate should also exhibit the following behavioral traits and/or skills:

  • Respond to a wide array of incidents, from non-urgent, to critically urgent medical situations.

  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.


Qualifications


This position is not eligible for Intel immigration sponsorship.

The candidate must possess at least one of the following educational or experience requirements.

Minimum Qualifications:
Candidate must possess one or more of the following:

  • Possess a current valid State Emergency Medical First Responder license or higher

  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics)

  • 3+ years of equivalent military training in Mechanics / Machinists / Electronics / Avionics / Automotive Mechanics / Maintenance / EOD / Equipment / Repairers / Systems / Technician / Sonar Training or Construction related trades.

  • 6+ months of experience as a Maintenance or Manufacturing Technician.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Life Safety Certifications (Fire system maintenance, fire fighting, gas/chemical detection)

  • EMT Certification CPR Certified (EMR, EMT, Paramedic)

  • Any other first responder certifications
