Job Description

ATTD (Assembly and Test Technology Development) Packaging Research and Development Engineer responsibilities are but, not limited to:  

  • Develops, modifies, applies, and maintains quality standards for processing materials into partially finished or finished material or product.
  • Devises and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment.
  • Designs or specifies inspection and testing mechanisms and equipment, conducts quality assurance tests, and performs statistical analysis to assess the cost of, and determine the responsibility for, products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications.
  • May specialize in the areas of design, incoming material, production control, product evaluation and reliability, inventory control/research and development as they apply to quality control.
  • Responds to customer/client requests or events as they occur.
  • Develops solutions to problems utilizing formal education and judgement.

The candidate must be able to exhibit the following behavioral traits/skills:  

  • Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.   
  • Must present the material clearly and confidently and actively listen to the audience.
  • Must have good critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to analyze measurement data statistically and communicate results.  
  • Must be able to consider dimensioning and tolerancing issues of their students and explain them.
  • Must have the ability to work in teams and collaborate across groups both within Intel and with material suppliers.   


You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position.
Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum qualifications and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Candidate must possess a BS degree with 6+ years of experience or MS degree with 4+ years of experience or PhD with 2+ years of experience in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 2+ years Geometric Dimensioning (example ASME Y14.5) and tolerancing

Preferred Qualifications:

3+ years of experience with one or more of the following:

  • Programming coordinate measuring machines (CMM's)
    Statistics (cp and cpk)
  • Managing activities at a supplier's location
  • GEOMeasure/PC-DMIS/JMP/PolyWorks/SolidWorks
  • Analysis of Measurement Capability Analysis (GR and R) and Correlation
  • Different brands of CMMs and their software
  • Measurement differences in a correlation
  • Teaching dimensioning and tolerancing GDTP Senior level certification from ASME
