Intel has announced a major expansion of Intel's production capacities in Europe and plans to develop two first-of-their-kind semiconductor fabs in Magdeburg, Germany, the capital of Saxony-Anhalt. Planning has started, with construction expected to begin in the first half of 2023 and production planned to come online in 2027, pending European Commission approval.

The Facilities Commodity Manager (FCM) is an individual contributor who will lead the sourcing, negotiations, contracting, and management of a full range of construction contracts, supporting Intel Magdeburg projects.

The position will work closely with management from fab construction, finance, design, and engineering to deliver complex projects enabling Intel's manufacturing capacity.

The FCM position will work with the Construction & Facilities Supply Chain (CFSC) Group Growithin the Global Supply Chain (GSC) organization.

As the Construction Facilities Commodity Manager, you will be responsible for but not limited to:

  • Developing and presenting a rationale for construction contracting and compensation strategies.

  • Participate in the development and execution of contracts used to procure design, construction, and other construction-related services supporting Intel fab construction projects.

  • Role modelling standard business processes, ensuring compliance with corporate, fiscal, legal, environmental, and risk management policies to minimize and limit corporate liability, manage risk, and optimize value.

  • Provide training and influence construction project managers, buyers, and project team members on business processes and related tools.

  • Gain proficiency in contract documents and standard business processes.

  • Compare and evaluate 'key performance indicators.

  • Facilitate resolution of any contract disputes or escalations.

  • Provide expertise on construction contracting methods, understanding the relationship between contractual responsibilities and assignment of risk, and a basic understanding of the relationship between construction costs, quality, and schedule.

This role entails intensive planning and design efforts in various areas of this function, for this project and related projects


Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • The candidate must possess at least one of the following degrees plus the years of experience determined for each degree in the areas specified below: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field of study.3+ years of experience in the Construction or Construction related field.

  • Good verbal and written English language skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in the above fields of study or MBA is preferred.

  • Procurement planning and procurement policy expertise.

  • Supply chain and supplier management experience.

  • Working knowledge of project management skills and methods.

  • Understand and apply benchmarking concepts.

  • Knowledge of the local/regional market in relation to industry trends and norms.

  • Knowledge of contracts, contract law, and claims management processes and procedures.

This position may be Virtual or require a temporary training assignment, prior to assignment to Magdeburg, Germany.

The final location is the Magdeburg site.

The interim location of this role is Home Based Office until office premises will be available, ETA: Q4 2022.

Working Model
This role will be eligible for our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site. In certain circumstances the work model may change to accommodate business needs.
