The Global Waste Program Manager role is a senior level position reporting to Intel's Global Environmental Manager. Intel has internal EHS standards which require consistent performance at all global sites. This position is responsible for "owning" all programs related to regulated wastes including environmental standards, self-assessments, training, reporting, and compliance. This individual would be Intel's visible Waste Expert globally, providing assistance, expertise and guidance.

In this position the successful individual will be required to continue and further improve Intel's performance as a global leader in waste compliance and to drive Intel's environmental goals, strategies, and programs. The successful candidate should be a content expert in solid and hazardous waste regulations, including but not limited to US Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) and other applicable country waste regulations where Intel operates globally.

As a Global Waste Program Manager your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate across organizations to maintain environmental performance and limit Intel's environmental footprint.
  • Team with other EHS professionals on a site, regional and global level to share learning, increase innovation and drive synergy throughout Intel and Global EHS.
  • Provide guidance, support, and expertise to sites regarding regulated waste related issues, including reviewing and commenting on industry group workplans and proposals, and waste permitting, plans and projects.
  • Interface with Intel government affairs and the appropriate regulatory agencies or industry trade organizations to influence proposed laws and regulations.
  • Partner with site, regional and global stakeholders to increase environmental awareness, tracking, analyzing, and reporting environmental indicators and driving continuous improvement efforts.
  • Ability to collaborate with site environmental engineers and peer review required waste reports, emergency response and contingency plans and waste export permit applications to ensure consistency, accuracy and alignment with Intel's standards and policies.
  • Work in partnership with site and regional environmental engineers, global supply chain and EHS Legal to evaluate and approve waste management facilities to manage Intel waste streams globally.
  • Review routine program audits and consult on compliance assurance auditing to gauge the health of the waste compliance programs and identify areas needed for improvement.
  • Act as waste compliance subject matter expert for Technology Development related to global regulated waste policy and standards.
  • Provide environmental waste expertise to legal, global public affairs, government affairs, sustainability, Global Supply Chain, and other business units.
  • Lead cross-site team of Intel's global waste engineers and help develop/mentor global environmental engineers.
  • Maintaining Intel's global hazardous waste training curriculum.
  • Influence and educate senior management on the waste compliance impacts of decisions regarding site expansions, plans and proposals.

  • Skills to establish relationships with business stakeholders, site operations teams, and collaborate with other support organizations such as PTD, TD-Environmental, Sustainability. global supply chain, legal, and global policy organizations.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, both written and verbal, with emphasize on the ability to communicate complex technical topics in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences, both internal and external to the company.
  • Recognized as a content expert in waste and other environmental related areas.
  • Expertise to achieve results by leading and engaging partners internal and external to the company.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • The candidate must possess a Bachelor's degree in an Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related field
  • 6+ years of experience in the environmental field and/or demonstrated experience implementing/executing environmental compliance programs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS or PhD degree in environmental engineering field: with waste focus or relevant job experience
  • Professional Engineering License in Environmental, Civil, Chemical or a professional certification in related field
  • Ability to achieve results by leading and engaging partners internal and external to the company
  • Experience in external forums and industry groups related to waste management and compliance program implementation
  • Knowledge of global air, waste, stormwater, and wastewater regulations
  • Good understanding of rest of world practices with respect to waste management and regulations

Working Model
This role will be eligible for our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site. In certain circumstances the work model may change to accommodate business needs.
