IRCS EHS has responsibility for the provision of Environmental Health & Safety processes and support across the Intel Ireland Leixlip site. As an EHS Group Leader (GL) you will manage a group of EHS engineers and report directly to the EHS Area Manager. You will be responsible for the delivery of EHS services across the site for the assigned EHS areas and for the management of that team of EHS engineers.
Candidates will work regular work week (RWW) and should expect to be contacted occasionally out of hours if business need dictates.
In this position you will work as part of an overall Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) team and will be primarily responsible for the development, co-ordination, continuous improvement and management of specific EHS programs and processes onsite. Examples of site programs can include Safety, Ergonomics, Industrial Hygiene or Environmental programs and focus may be specifically on one, or a combination, of these disciplines but expectation that you work in co-ordination with others also. In addition, you will support the overall EHS management system and ISO 45001 / ISO 14001 / ISO 50001 standards as applicable which will involve close liaison with EHS engineers. This is a people management role with an equal strong emphasis on strong technical ability.
The role will be as a technical EHS expert in a GL role guiding and directing technical aspects for the assigned team.
Fostering and instilling a strong EHS culture in which procedural adherence, operational excellence and result orientation are also key foundational aspects.
People management responsibilities will include all aspects of team health, including staffing, technical coaching, skills development, training and proficiency, performance management and organisational health for the team.
Be a role model of Intel values and culture, cultivating and reinforcing appropriate group values, norms and behaviors to align with area business focus.
Responsible for the people development and management, and promoting positive working relations between engineers, and other areas.
Maintain and develop relationships with a wide range of internal partner organisations
Participate in field aspects for this work.
Fostering a growth mindset for continuous improvement in all areas of operations.
The GL is expected to coach employees, establish and manage work priorities, set direction, and clearly communicate to team members on the critical items.
The GL needs to provide excellent written and verbal communications to their direct management and to senior stakeholders across the organization.
GL to represent EHS at selected site operational meetings as required.Qualifications
A minimum of a NFQ Level 8 qualification in a core EHS or science related discipline. If the core qualification is a science related discipline - then a candidate must have completed a Post. Grad. Diploma or MSc. in an EHS discipline.
5 + years of direct work experience in an industrial EHS role.
Previous people management skills would be a distinct advantage.
Good presentation skills and ability to communicate strategic and tactical concepts across a wide range of employees, engineering peers and to management.
Demonstrate a high level of technical and scientific competence in the application of the EHS fundamentals e.g. recognition, evaluation, control and prevention of occupational safety, health and environmental hazards.
Utilise effective oral and written communications to interact with customers around EHS matters.
A high tolerance for ambiguity and change due to the dynamic nature of the business.
Ability to influence senior management decisions and program implementations
Knowledge of EHS Management Systems and their practical application to industry.
Demonstrate excellent attention to detail
Willingness to build and foster a strong EHS culture
