Intel Programmable Solutions Group is seeking talented, highly motivated, and passionate engineers to join its Application Engineering team in Europe enabling the success of our customers and partners world-wide.
As a FPGA Design Application Engineer in our European Regional Application Engineering team, you will work alongside the existing teams located in Marlow, UK and Gdansk, Poland and will be responsible for delivering expert level technical support on Intel PSG's products.
You will work in a rapid learning environment, alongside industry experts, who will support your daily development and knowledge growth. Training courses will further accelerate your learning, with potential opportunities to visit other Intel locations world-wide. You will learn how to use all the resources at your disposal to make sure that our customers can realize their FPGA-based designs as efficiently as possible using our silicon, software, and IP products.

You will be expected to collaborate with a wide range of teams within Intel to ensure that you are successful in enabling our customers to meet their design objectives.

Key responsibilities:

  • Delivery of expert level technical support in the resolution of FPGA design and application issues. Depending on your technical experience and interests this may cover component architecture and fitting issues, programming and configuration issues, silicon performance and functionality issues, board interface and design issues, high level design flow issues and embedded processor implementation issues

  • Delivery of reactive and proactive technical support in one or more product areas to Intel PSG customers, sales teams, and design partners as necessary. This may include the delivery of training and will extend to customer visits as appropriate.

  • Communicating with your customers using our CRM systems, e-mail, and telephone it will be your responsibility to investigate the support requests assigned to you and resolve these issues directly through the appropriate use of simulation and other analysis tools, or by working with the appropriate evaluation boards and test equipment.

  • The proactive aspects of the position will require participation in development projects, possibly as part of an international, cross organizational team and may include the generation of collateral and reference designs.

  • Development of strong local, regional, and international intra and inter organizational communication and co-operation in a team-based collaborative environment.

  • The management of technical support activities in an efficient manner utilizing the issue management systems that are available in the company working with the rest of the application engineering team and the extended sales team to prioritize issues effectively based on Intel PSG's business objectives.

  • Maintenance of your level of technical expertise by identifying and communicating your development requirements and attending suitable internal and external training activities.

  • B.Sc. or B.Eng. in Electronic Engineering or equivalent in addition to 1+ years of relevant experience.

  • The ability to work flexibly in a multi-tasking, team-based environment.

  • Good interpersonal skills and an ability to apply sound judgement.

  • Good technical knowledge with skills and experience in areas such as FPGA or ASIC design using Verilog, VHDL or high-level design tools, board design, board debug, circuit and board modelling and simulation (e.g. Spice and IBIS) and embedded systems design.

  • Experience with the use of oscilloscopes, signal generators, pattern generators, logic analyzers and other laboratory equipment.

  • Good communication skills, problem solving skills, and the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment.

Working Model
This role will be eligible for our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site. In certain circumstances the work model may change to accommodate business needs.
