Intel is seeking highly qualified candidates to join our Intel Federal (IFED) group within our larger Programmable Solution Group as a DSP FPGA Engineer!

Intel Federal Labs and Intel's Programmable Solutions Group (PSG) Military, Aerospace and Government (MAG) Group is searching for talented and innovative software-defined radio (SDR) FPGA Hardware Systems Engineers for collaboratively focused research, PoC design and development to advance novel and exciting solutions to government facing problems leveraging Intel's latest and high-performance FPGA tools and silicon. This role will include technical RnD in a collaborative small team environment, communicating with customers, working with the customers on system requirements, and proposing innovative technical solutions.

The Wireless/DSP FPGA Engineer will support development of Software Defined Radio technology and will develop signal processing algorithms implemented in Intel FPGAs supporting air interfaces such as 4G/5G/6G cellular, 802.11 a/b/g/n/+, Bluetooth and other wireless standards using a common hardware platform. The candidate will develop signal processing algorithms for these air interfaces implemented in RTL targeting Intel FPGAs. As a member of a small, highly technical team, the candidate will be working on state-of-the-art radio technology to solve problems facing the US government.

You must possess the below minimum education requirements and minimum required qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Additional preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.


Minimum Education Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 9+ years of work experience or

Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 6+ years of work experience

This position involves work on US Government Contracts and/or proposals for US Government Contracts that limit participation to US Citizens.  A person may be required to provide proof of US Citizenship in order to comply with US government requirements.  Any offer by Intel for this position is conditioned upon satisfying any government requirements regarding proof of citizenship.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

8+ years of total experience inclusive of the following:

  • Wireless communications and signal processing in FPGAs or ASICs
  • Embedded system design and tools (e.g., Quartus or Vivado, or other related high level design tools)
  • Proficiency in IP development including RTL coding (Verilog/System Verilog/VHDL), design, debug and validation from simulation to hardware bring-up
  • Experience working with FPGAs, SoCs, ASICs, or other accelerators

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or related STEM field
  • Experience with RF communications, RADAR/EW, and/or RF transceiver signal processing chains
  • Experience with physical, data link layer implementations
  • Experience optimizing FPGA designs for size, weight, and power
  • Experience with hardware bring-up and firmware/IP integration and testing
  • Hands-on experience with peripherals such as UART, SPI, I2C, GPIO, JESD and USB
  • Hands-on experience with RF test and measurement equipment
  • Experience with: MATLAB, Python/Perl, Unix/Linux Shell scripts

Working Model
This role will be eligible for our hybrid work model which allows employees to split their time between working on-site at their assigned Intel site and off-site. In certain circumstances the work model may change to accommodate business needs.
