Job DescriptionWorks on endtoend power delivery design and development, spanning initial concept to implementation of power delivery requirements and ecosystem enabling of power integrated circuits. Designs power delivery solutions to meet energy efficiency and performance goals. Defines, implements, and analyzes power delivery networks including 2D and 3D model extraction and noise analysis to meet platform specifications. Applies knowledge of power conversion topologies including components, compensation circuits/stability analysis, drop/droop analysis, simulation tools, and techniques as well as PCB layout and design tools to characterize performance and validate correlation of simulation modeling and results. Designs and validates platform power conversion and management solutions including energy management and performs simulation and optimization for package and PCB including stackup, power/ground noise plane assignment, decoupling solutions and/or power sequencing requirements. Collaborates with silicon and platform architects in generating solutions and analysis in delivering content into platform design guide as solution collaterals to the end customer. Architects VR specifications, creates test bench, test plans, and RTL models for emulation. Validates and correlates VR test tools and VR behavioral models with hardware.
QualificationsProven technical understanding of server/OCP/PCIe power supply architectures and designs
Understanding and experience with multi-phase buck/buck-boost regulators, digital PWM controllers, bus converters, LDOs, PMICs, charge pumps, ADCs/DACs, etc
Working knowledge of 2D/2.5D EM simulation tools such as Sigrity's PowerDC, PowerSI, SiWave or equivalent
Strong knowledge of high frequency magnetics design for power electronics
Knowledge of high voltage power distribution system (+48V, AC/DC converters)
Printed circuit board design experience is a must
Experience in schematic capture, PCB design tools such as OrCAD or Allegro
Ability to work with multiple cross functional teams (Silicon, Mechanical, Thermal, Manufacturing, CAD, etc...) to make the right trade-offs on system level performance
Excellent knowledge of control theory, closed loop compensation, stability analysis, phase margin, etc.
Proficiency with lab equipment such as oscilloscope, electronic loads, function generators, loop analyzers , etc.
Experience with analog and DC/DC converter circuit modeling and simulation tools (e.g. Simplis, PSpice, HSpice etc.) required
Must be a team player with good written and verbal communication skills
4+ years of relevant industry experience
B.S is required, M.S preferred
