Description

Responsibilities:
As an Embedded Software Engineer, you will work with the Intel Shannon DCG/CID Software development team to deliver best-in-class for Intel Architecture (IA) based leading-edge embedded processors to drive the next generation of Intel communication devices.
You will be based in Shannon, Co. Clare as a member of a talented team of software developers and will have the opportunity to work with teams across the globe using Agile software development methodologies

Qualifications

Required Experience:
Honours degree in a programming discipline, Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Science etc., or a proven programming track record in industry
Minimum of 3 years software development experience
Excellent knowledge of C or C++ programming, especially in developing multi-core or multi-threaded software
Code development and optimization in a Linux environment
Strong problem solving skills coupled with a strong aptitude to learn and innovate
Knowledge of secure coding development practices and vulnerabilities exploitation
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a multisite team
Performance benchmarking and application optimization experience
Unit and integration test development for complex systems
Strong interpersonal skills. Customer facing experience a bonus

Desired Experience:
Experience of Open vSwitch or another virtual switching technology
Knowledge of communication protocols: e.g. TCP/IP, ICMP, VLAN, VxLAN, NvGRE
Knowledge of a scripting language (e.g. PERL, Bash, Python)
Experience analysing complex software architecture and creating high level or low level designs
Strong development experience of Intel Architecture/x86 or other multi-core processer
Knowledge of virtualisation and hypervisor technologies - preferably QEMU
Experience of Clearcase, Clearquest, Git or similar configuration management tools
Contribution to an open source project especially Open vSwitch or another virtual switching technology
Network performance testing and analysis using open source or commercial tools (e.g. IXIA or Spirent)
Track record of innovation
Agile development experience - preferably scrum
Experience of Software Defined Networking (SDN) and Network Function Virtualisation (NFV) systems and components
Knowledge of 3G/4G network architectures
