Software Development Engineer - OS Enabling

Job Description

The VMware Center of Excellence team is looking for a world-class software engineer with Linux and/or VSphere experience to join the Operating System enabling team. The engineer will work in a highly collaborative and dynamic environment. The successful candidate should have solid system software experience and have the ability to work with cross geo stakeholders. The work involves enabling next generation Intel technologies on the industry leading virtualization platform. This is an excellent opportunity for someone to grow their career and influence Intel's growth in the data center technologies.

This is an entry level position and will be compensated accordingly.


Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Experience listed below would be obtained through a combination of your school work/classes/research and/or relevant previous job and/or internship experiences.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Candidate must have a Doctorate Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or other science/engineering related field.
  • 1 year experience or equivalent coursework in the following areas:
    • computer architecture and server platform hardware.
    •  Linux and/or Windows operating systems
    • C/C++ programming language

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Worked with VMM technologies like VMware/Xen/KVM/Hyper-V
  • Experience with performance benchmarks: analysis and optimization.
  • Knowledge of storage and networking protocols.
  • Knowledgeable about SR-IOV, DMA, PCIe-Run benchmarks to understand system performance using tools like emon/perfmon/VTune
