Linux Kernel Graphics SW Developer

Job Description

We are looking for software engineer to work on a team responsible for developing Linux kernel graphics driver. As a Software Engineer at Intel, you will be part of developing multiple aspects of the software at all the levels of the software stack from drivers to user interfaces, solving complex technical issues, actively collaborating with other team members working cross-geo. You will get a chance to work with global technical experts and gain deep knowledge of Intel Graphics solutions.

In this position you would be also work with issues in software drivers and applications, implementing software improvements, and recommending future hardware & software improvements. Also responsible for providing internal and external feedback to implement upcoming graphics features in yet to be released OSes to ensure our hardware and software will function and perform as expected on next generation platforms as well as designing/developing/implementing graphics system level software for future platforms.


  • Experience with the Open Source community, tools and behaviors is a must.
  • Deep knowledge and hands on experience of Linux software development i915 Kernel graphics driver familiarity is also a must.
  • Prior Linux software development in other ingredients is a plus.
  • Must understand open source development methodology and practices. Prior contributions to open source project is a plus.
  • Experience in maintaining an open source project or experience as a package maintainer is highly desirable.
  • Fluent in shell scripts, C, and working experience using git as a source control system.
  • Prior working experience using agile development process is highly desirable.
  • Deep knowledge and experience in any of following - networking, toolchain, graphics, virtual machines.
  • Prior experience with the i915 Linux Kernel Graphics driver or other kernel graphics driver and Mesa 3d Graphics stack is a plus.
  • Able to work in a cross geo team environment.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written, are a must and you must be able to handle ambiguity and efficiently prioritize tasks.
  • Efforts also include triaging, debugging and fixing existing bugs, submitting patches upstream to Linux maintainers with fixes and ensuring quality is maintained in the i915 Graphics code base.
  • Must possess a Bachelor's Degree/4+ years in computer science or equivalent. Master's Degree/3+ years in computer science or equivalent. Ph.D. Degree/0 years in computer science or equivalent.
