Next-Generation Wireless Research Physical Layer I

Job Description

Join a team of researchers at the Intel Labs/Wireless Communications Research in Santa Clara, CA, responsible for research on Wireless Technologies. An important part of this research involves generating new concepts, implementing them on simulation and prototyping platforms, conducting experiments and collecting and analyzing the data to support them.

The intern is expected to contribute in developing link and system level simulations, formulating creative solutions and conducting experiments on research problems related to next generation wireless networks.

The successful candidate will have a great opportunity to work on cutting edge wireless communication technologies and acquire the experience in advanced technology implementations via developing simulation/prototype platforms.

The ideal candidate should exhibit the following behavioral traits:

This is an entry level position and will be compensated accordingly.


You must possess the minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Relevant experience can be obtained through school work, classes and project work, internships, military training, and/ or work experience. Minimum Requirements: The candidate must be pursuing a PhD in Electrical Engineering. Minimum 6 months of experience in/with the following: Simulation and programming using Matlab and C/C++ Basic knowledge of WiFi IEEE 802.11ac/ax and/or Cellular LTE PHY MAC protocols, MIMO, beamforming, Channel estimation Preferred Qualifications: Research experience in advanced wireless networking technologies, e.g., WiFi IEEE 802.11, Cellular LTE, 5G Millimeter wave MAC/PHY protocol. Knowledge of Transmitter/receiver design including MIMO, beamforming, interference mitigation, performance evaluation of MIMO, beamforming algorithms with realistic implementation impairments, Wireless Channel model and RF impairments
