Software Engineer - Embedded Application Runtime Environment

Job Description

This is a technical role intended to design, develop, and provide developer support for software for wearable products built by the New Devices Group.

The role is twofold: as a senior developer in a team responsible for the development of the application runtime engine, services, core system UI, and tools and capabilities to support internal and external developers and as a developer advocate who will produce and support features, tools, documentation, sample applications and other deliverables for developers, and who will provide direct technical support, and advocate internally for application developers around the world as they extend our platform.


The candidate must be Expert-level in modern JavaScript and associated frameworks and technologies ES6, TypeScript, npm, yarn etc.

The candidate must have strong familiarity with virtual machine runtime environments in embedded environments such as JerryScript, and direct experience shipping and supporting embedded application runtime environments.

The candidate must have excellent customer communication and engagement skills, and a good command of English in both verbal and written technical communications.

The candidate must have experience producing and supporting software developer documentation, tooling, SDKs, sample apps, and at least 3 years prior experience directly supporting external software developers.

The candidate must have experience working remotely as part of a distributed engineering team.

The candidate must have experience working in a unit test and CI-driven development workflow.

The candidate must be experienced with git, preferably in a complex environment e.g git subtrees, etc..

The candidate must have a deep technical software engineering background and 7+ years of experience building and shipping products, software and services.

Candidates should also have 5-7+ years of experience leading and collaborating with product teams.

The candidate must be familiar with mobile technologies, modern operating systems, embedded operating systems, and consumer electronic products.

Strong user interface design skills are desirable.The candidate must have programming experience in JavaScript, C/C++, and Python

Programming experience in iOS and/or Android is highly desirable.
