Performance Modeling Engineer

Job Description
We are looking for a highly motivated candidate for our performance architecture team. This is a dynamic and exciting technical responsibility to directly influence and shape Intel's SOC roadmap. You will be joining a team responsible for defining the product architecture and driving the design and development of SOCs targeted for multiple segments. The position requires working closely with architecture and design teams across multiple geographies, and owning among other things, delivering best-in-class performance on target products.Responsibilities include:- Studying micro-arch specifications and writing high-level performance models for the same- Verifying performance expectations from micro-arch specification through simulation identifying performance bottlenecks and working closely with architect/design to address them- Do power/performance trade-off analysis for different micro-arch alternatives and provide feedback to design- Validate RTL implementation for performance, working closely with design & validation teams- Develop microarchitecture features and optimizations aimed at improving the overall performance and/or power of target SOCs- Keep abreast of relevant architectural research in the industry/academia and explore research ideas to improve client SOC performance and/or power


Qualifications

1. PhD or Masters in CS/CE/EE with 1~3 years of experience working on hardware architecture or design2. Strong understanding of computer architecture fundamentals3. Absolute fluency in C/C++ programming languages4. Ability to work with multiple scripting languages such as Python, Perl, etc.5. Strong data analysis and reasoning6. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal7. Highly motivated and proven ability to work independentlyPreferred qualifications: 1. Experience working with architectural simulators and/or performance modeling2. Exposure to multi-level cache architecture, or interconnect fabrics, or memory technologies, etc.
