Linux Kernel Graphics SW Developer

Job Description

We are looking for software engineer to work on a team responsible for developing Linux kernel graphics driver. As a Software Engineer at Intel, you will be part of developing multiple aspects of the software at all the levels of the software stack from drivers to user interfaces, solving complex technical issues, actively collaborating with other team members working cross-geo. You will get a chance to work with global technical experts and gain deep knowledge of Intel Graphics solutions. In this position you would be also work with issues in software drivers and applications, implementing software improvements, and recommending future hardware & software improvements. Also responsible for providing internal and external feedback to implement upcoming graphics features in yet to be released OSes to ensure our hardware and software will function and perform as expected on next generation platforms as well as designing/developing/implementing graphics system level software for future platforms.

As a software engineer at Intel's Open Source Technology Center, your work is mostly on open source and do also remember that Intel is number one on contributions to Linux kernel so we master working with open source projects and with communities.

Our team is experienced and international. You will learn from people who have been doing the work for many years. We have members all around the world and a multi-cultural team in Espoo sitting alongside engineers working across many open source projects, e.g. Linux Core kernel, Mesa, Bluetooth, Wireless, Containers, and many more.

The ideal candidate should have Strong Linux skills and solid experience with Linux kernel and driver’s knowledge and skilled in git patch manipulation and rebasing. Experience submitting patches, reviewing patches, submitting bug reports, and writing convincing arguments to get your patches or bugs accepted. Also ability to review logs, and take appropriate corrective action, providing root cause analysis.


Qualifications

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Master's Degree/3+ years in computer science or equivalent
  • Strong native programming language, C and C++, skills
  • 2-3 year’s work experience on software projects
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Deep knowledge and hands on experience of Linux software development and Kernel graphics driver familiarity

Optional Requirements:

  • Prior experience with the Open Source community, tools and behaviors.
  • Understand open source development methodology and practices.
  • Prior contributions to open source project is a plus.
  • Prior Linux software development in other ingredients is a plus.
  • Prior experience with the i915 Linux Kernel Graphics driver or other kernel graphics driver and Mesa 3d Graphics stack is a plus.
