RSD Photonics Receiver Designer

Job Description

Intel's Silicon Photonics Product Division SPPD is currently looking for a Senior Photonic IC Architect to join the team. The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for architecture definition, design, and development of integrated receiver Rx chip for next generation high-speed transceiver product for low cost and high volume applications. Responsibilities include Rx chain design involving high-speed trans-impedance amplifier TIA, photonic device design and simulation, test-chip layout design, process design, device evaluation and characterization, and documentation of specifications. He/she will also play an important role in evaluating and determining receiver chip integration architecture/platform and closely collaborate with process integration engineer for integrated receiver chip development. This position will be multi-task oriented. You must have an excellent track record in high-speed optical device design, modeling and simulation, and testing. Be willing to work in a team environment and be able to communicate results with multiple levels of the organization. The ideal candidate should exhibit behavioral traits that indicate:- Strong verbal and written communication skills - Excellent problem solving skills


Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

Must have a PhD in Electrical Engineering, Photonics, Optoelectronics, Optics, Physics, and similar technical discipline

Minimum 2+ years of post-graduate experience in the following skillsets: - Design, fabrication, and characterization of optical receiver chip including high-speed photodiode and optical coupler/spot size convertor for single-mode fiber coupling. - Rx chain design and subsystem design/testing

Optical simulation tools such as Beamprop, Fullwave, Fimmwave, Fimmprop, Lumerical FDTD /Mode solutions, Zemax - Photonics, optoelectronics, semiconductor physics and device physics

Semiconductor process knowledge such as Lithography, Implant, Wet Etch and Dry Etch

Preferred additional qualifications:

Experience in integrated photonic chip design and characterization, particularly in Silicon Photonics

Experience in high-speed photodetector development and waveguide-fiber coupling
