Staff Process Automation Engineer

Job Description
Define, justify, implement, and validate manufacturing equipment for assembly processes for optical sub-components, components and modules. Specifically high accuracy optical alignment and bonding of optical components with Single Mode Fiber.Work with a team of engineers and scientists to develop and bring to manufacturing new equipment and assembly processes required for new productsDefine equipment requirements and write detailed procurement specificationsProvide leadership to Engineering and Operations teams on area of expertiseUse sound engineering practice and modeling techniques to design equipment fixtures and processPrepare proposals for capital expenditureManage equipment installation and start-upProvide technical support and expertise during design, install, start-up, and preliminary production runs of new processesProvide technical training and expertise to operators during process implementationProvide leadership in defining continuous improvement programs for equipment and processes


Qualifications

Extensive industry experience in high volume Single Mode Fiber optical coupling.Highly skilled in using DFM design for manufacturability, DOE design of experiment, FMEA failure modes & effect analysis, gauge R&R, and problem solving skillsHigh familiarity with use of Statistical Tools and Software such as JMPMust have very recent experience working in a manufacturing environmentDemonstrated record of yield and cycle time improvementKnowledge of six-sigma, SPC and process capability, OCAP Out of Control Action Plan, written procedure, operator training, Kaizen or continuous improvement, lean manufacturing techniquesPrevious experiences - preferably in optical components, modules or solar industriesDemonstrated ability to work with and drive cross-functional groups and external partnersStrong track-record of developing and implementing innovative solutions to complex problems in a timely mannerDemonstrated use of project management skillsKnowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures in a manufacturing environmentExcellent verbal and written communication and interrelationship skillsKnowledge and understanding of process flowsAbility to observe and understand existing and new processesRequirement:BA of engineer/science and advanced technical degrees is preferred10+ years of experience with the automated SM fiber alignment equipment & equipment suppliers used for optical communication component industryExtensive experience & expertise of process development and over sea CM transfer with successful track record
